About the Role
Marriott International is seeking a full-time Purchasing Manager in Medina. This role involves managing the purchasing operations, ensuring adherence to established procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, distributing, and payment of items. The manager will also be responsible for formulating an approved vendor list across all categories.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate accurate and timely reports and presentations.
- Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, and verify information or data.
- Ensure sanitation compliance and maintain sanitation and safety standards as specified in brand guidelines.
- Assist the Executive Chef with all aspects of purchasing, including food, beverage, and controllable items, to ensure quality and profitability.
- Order all food and beverage based on business needs and assist in maintaining/lowering budgeted food/controllable costs.
- Delegate and enforce first-in/first-out inventory rotation for all storeroom products.
- Implement proper safeguards for the security of food and beverage storeroom assets.
- Enforce item use-up with storeroom personnel and kitchen management to keep inventory levels as low as possible.
- Communicate with kitchen, restaurant management, and vendors to ensure timely deliveries that satisfy advanced food production needs.
- Check invoices against shipments to verify quantity, quality, weights, and purchase specifications.
- Utilize computer programs to perform daily and period-end food and beverage cost calculations.
- Maintain inventory controls for proper levels, dating, rotation, and requisitions.
- Complete administrative tasks, including C-7s, menu costing, and general office duties, on a timely basis.
- Complete period-end inventory according to Food and Beverage and Accounting standard operating procedures.
- Ensure price and product availability issues are communicated to the F&B Director and Executive Chef as needed.
- Ensure all LSOPs are adhered to by all employees.
- Receive and inspect all deliveries.
- Maintain an accurate controllable log and beverage perpetual inventory.
- Ensure accurate administration of all invoices and adherence to proper bookkeeping procedures.
Financial and Operational Management
- Demonstrate knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes, applying new technical knowledge to the role.
- Use computers and computer systems for programming, software, function setup, data entry, and information processing.
- Utilize judgment to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards.
- Submit reports in a timely manner, ensuring delivery deadlines are met.
- Ensure accurate documentation of profits and losses.
- Achieve and exceed performance, budget, and team goals.
- Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
- Monitor applicable taxes, ensuring they are current, collected, and/or accrued.
- Coordinate and implement accounting work and projects as assigned, including audits for all property operations.
- Comply with Federal and State laws applying to operations procedures.
- Balance ledgers and provide direction regarding accounting and budgeting policies.
Team Leadership and Support
- Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others, advocating sound financial/business decision-making.
- Address disciplinary situations in a timely and consistent fashion.
- Ensure performance reviews are completed on a timely basis for supervisors and non-management employees.
- Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates via telephone, written form, email, or in person.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solutions and solve problems.
- Interact with kitchen staff, vendors, and the Executive Chef.
- Inform and/or update executives, peers, and subordinates on relevant information in a timely manner.
Customer Experience and Safety
- Provide excellent customer service by being readily available and approachable for all customers and guests.
- Take proactive approaches when dealing with customer and guest concerns, extending professionalism and courtesy at all times.
- Respond timely to customer service department requests and ensure all team members meet or exceed hospitality requirements.
- Implement property emergency plans and provide a safe working environment in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration/MSDS.
- Implement and sustain property accident prevention programs and follow property-specific recovery plans.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess 0-1 years of relevant experience. The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage time effectively, and proficiency in using existing computer programs to post invoices and update items and costs. The ability to present ideas and information concisely and to use problem-solving methodology for decision-making is essential.
