Piping Materials / Metallurgy SME

About the Role

Wood (KSA) is seeking a Piping Materials / Metallurgy SME to serve as the Technical Authority across a diverse portfolio of energy, oil & gas, mining, industrial, and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from proposals and concept studies to FEED, detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning.

Role Purpose and Impact

The successful candidate will act as the highest level of technical authority within their discipline, offering specialist expertise in piping materials selection and metallurgy. This position is critical for ensuring engineering excellence, strengthening technical governance, and supporting the delivery of safe, innovative, and high-quality engineering solutions. Beyond project support, the SME will contribute to business development, technical assurance, and client relationship building across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the Technical Authority across multiple projects.
• Lead technical reviews during Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.
• Perform independent design assurance and peer reviews.
• Resolve complex engineering challenges and provide specialist guidance.
• Support proposals, client workshops, and business development activities.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to the development of technical capability within teams.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

• A recognized industry expert in piping materials and metallurgy.
• Proven track record of solving complex engineering challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to influence clients and key stakeholders.
• Experience in mentoring engineering teams and driving technical excellence across major international projects.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Work Environment

This role is based in Saudi Arabia and operates on a full-time basis, supporting projects across various sectors including energy, oil & gas, mining, industrial, and infrastructure.
