About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Process Engineer with extensive hands-on expertise in Utilities and Tank Farm operations to join the Operation Engineering Solutions Department (OESD) within the Global Manufacturing (GM) Excellence Organization. OESD provides multi-disciplinary technical support to GM operating facilities, including refineries, NGL plants, and petrochemical plants, both within Saudi Arabia and globally. This full-time role requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Role Overview

The primary function of this role is to provide in-depth process engineering and operations expertise to monitor, optimize, and drive performance improvement programs for Utilities. This includes offering remote and on-site technical advisory support and conducting benchmarking of utility systems to ensure optimum operability, profitability, reliability, and process safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular performance reviews of existing Utilities using key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop and present quarterly benchmarking reports with actionable improvement recommendations.
  • Provide hands-on support for implementing performance improvement initiatives, demonstrating measurable results.
  • Lead benchmarking and best practices exchange workshops among Global Manufacturing facilities and affiliates.
  • Deliver on-demand remote and field technical advisory support, including process design, troubleshooting, start-up/shutdown activities, and capacity test runs.
  • Provide detailed service reports for each support activity, documenting facility needs, actions, results, and lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with facility engineers to identify and implement cost optimization or process improvement initiatives with minimal capital investment.
  • Conduct internal assessments on Utilities against Saudi Aramco engineering standards and highlight deviations or better affiliate standards.
  • Coordinate the cascading and execution of Global Manufacturing and Corporate programs for Utilities in operating facilities.
  • Participate in Business Plan development, coordinate capital investments for assigned Utilities, and support techno-economic evaluations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new Utilities technologies, coordinating with Central Engineering for field deployment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related specialization; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of total experience in Utilities units (process engineering and operations).
  • At least 10 years of hands-on experience specifically with refinery utilities.
  • Experience in water desalination and boilers for steam generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize various utility systems with specific examples of performance improvements.
  • In-depth knowledge of major equipment suppliers and package units for Utilities.
  • Proven track record in conducting technical troubleshooting, start-up, shutdown, and capacity test runs for utility systems.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools relevant to Utilities performance metrics.
  • Strong management and coordination skills, with experience in stakeholder management.
