Job Description

About Lucid Motors Middle East

Lucid Motors is dedicated to creating advanced mobility experiences through innovation. The company's vehicles, built on proprietary technology and software-defined architecture, emphasize a "Compromise Nothing™" approach, combining performance, sustainability, design, and engineering. Lucid achieves this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production managed in-house across global offices and manufacturing facilities. This role is based in Saudi Arabia.

Position Overview: Robotics Engineer PWT

The Robotics Engineer PWT supports robot commissioning, programming, recovery, and tooling integration within the AMP-2 Powertrain robotic cells. This position is an internship requiring 5-10 years of experience. Joining at the facility launch, the engineer will support FANUC, ABB, and KUKA cells from initial commissioning through volume ramp-up. The role involves hands-on contributions to robot uptime, cycle time optimization, and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform robot integration, commissioning, teaching, and programming for FANUC, ABB, and KUKA systems.
  • Support offline programming and simulation activities.
  • Maintain and optimize robots to maximize throughput throughout the asset's lifecycle.
  • Diagnose robot faults, including encoder, drive, cables, controller, and program issues.
  • Support production recovery events, such as robot resynchronization and program restoration.
  • Conduct structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring robot failures.
  • Support end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) design reviews, integration, and change management, and troubleshoot EOAT issues.
  • Support robot safety validation activities and ensure safety configurations, light curtains, and interlocks are maintained and validated.
  • Enforce HV LOTO, HVIL continuity, and mandatory HV PPE for work on or near EV Powertrain equipment.
  • Comply with SASO, IEC 60204, and functional safety standards (ISO 13849 / IEC 62061).
  • Support HV emergency response, including thermal runaway isolation and battery-related incident procedures.
  • Achieve and maintain HV safety competency appropriate to the scope of work.
  • Support AMP-2 Safe Launch activities, run-at-rate events, and capacity verification.
  • Contribute to Launch Readiness Reviews, Layered Process Audits, and Process Confirmation routines.
  • Participate in QRQC / RCCA escalations during launch and ramp-up phases.

Robot Application Engineering and Validation

  • Develop maintainable robot programs, frames, TCPs, payload data, zones, mastering, backups, and recovery standards; validate path accuracy and cycle repeatability.
  • Integrate EOAT, vision, conveyors, safety PLC handshakes, process equipment, and MES/traceability signals; confirm failure-mode recovery and restart behavior.
  • Execute reach, collision, singularity, and cycle-time studies using RoboGuide, RobotStudio, or *****, and verify results on equipment.
  • Maintain controlled robot/EOAT backups, revision history, spare strategy, and preventive-maintenance inputs.

Launch Governance, Change Control, and Operational Readiness

  • Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, equipment acceptance, Safe Launch, run-at-rate, and capacity verification with objective evidence and disciplined punch-list closure.
  • Control production, process, software, and test changes through documented risk assessment, approvals, validation, revision history, and rollback or containment planning.
  • Participate in readiness reviews, Layered Process Audits, Process Confirmation, and QRQC/RCCA; close assigned actions with verified effectiveness.

Safety, Quality, Data Integrity, and Compliance

  • Apply role-specific HV LOTO/HVIL, machine safety, stored-energy isolation, electrical safe-work, and PPE requirements; never bypass safety devices or product protections.
  • Protect product genealogy, calibrated-tool status, test/measurement integrity, document control, and audit-ready objective evidence.
  • Comply with applicable AMP-2, SASO, Saudi labor/EHS, IATF 16949, IEC 60204, and functional-safety requirements within assigned scope.
  • Build Saudi national capability through structured OJT, skills matrices, practical assessment, certification, cross-training, and documented knowledge transfer.
  • Create technical standards, troubleshooting guides, and training material.
  • Collaborate across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Automation/Robotics, Manufacturing Engineering, EHS, IT/OT, MES, Supply Chain, Product Engineering, and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Requires 5-10 Years experience
