Safety Engineer

About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Safety Engineer to join its Loss Prevention (LP) organization. This full-time role involves providing daily occupational and process safety support to company facilities and departments, ensuring effective implementation of safety management systems and compliance with all company safety requirements.

Loss Prevention Organization Overview

The Loss Prevention organization provides both day-to-day in-field occupational and process safety support to Saudi Aramco operations, alongside centralized technical support and consulting. LP field offices are located in Abqaiq, Riyadh, Ras Tanura, Dhahran, Udhailiyah, Jeddah (including Yanbu and Jazan), and Tanajib, serving all Saudi Aramco facilities and departments across the Kingdom.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate the implementation of the Saudi Aramco Safety Management System, including developing safety processes and participating in self-assessments.
• Conduct field inspections and reviews to assess compliance with company and international codes, identify safety concerns, and develop practical corrective actions.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend actions for critical operational safety practices such as work at height, isolation/LOTO, permit to work, hydrogen sulfide, confined space entry, and excavations.
• Participate in safety studies and activities using risk assessment and mitigation methodologies, including PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, incident investigations, and compliance reviews.
• Respond to emergency situations and incidents to provide technical assistance and advice.
• Engage in worksite contractor safety management activities, including selection, prequalification, compliance monitoring, and performance measurement.
• Support the reporting, classification, and investigation of all incidents, determining root causes, and recommending preventative measures.
• Deliver Loss Prevention-specific training to employees, contractors, and external parties.
• Mentor other Loss Prevention personnel.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution is required.
• Candidates must have 7 years of experience as a safety professional in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, or related industries.
• Experience should be comprehensive, covering both occupational and process safety.
• Excellent communication skills in English are essential for interacting with peers and management, as well as for producing clear and concise oral and written reports.
