About the Role

Dar Al Riyadh is seeking a Safety Engineer to monitor occupational health, safety, and environmental activities. This full-time role involves overseeing operations at dam sites, water facilities, and associated project locations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of construction, operation, maintenance, repair, and installation activities.
  • Inspect work areas, access arrangements, personal protective equipment, emergency facilities, and safety equipment for compliance.
  • Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, and potential hazards.
  • Issue site-safety observations, inspection findings, and recommendations for corrective or preventive action.
  • Follow up on contractors’ corrective actions and verify that safety findings are closed within the required timeframe.
  • Review contractors’ safety plans, risk assessments, method statements, job-safety analyses, and permit-to-work documents.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with contractual safety provisions, approved procedures, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Support the integration of occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements into project specifications, tender documents, and O&M contracts.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, pre-activity meetings, safety briefings, and risk-assessment sessions.
  • Monitor controls for high-risk activities, including work at height, confined-space entry, lifting operations, electrical work, excavation, hot work, and equipment isolation.
  • Support the safe execution of dam inspections, gate and valve maintenance, electromechanical activities, and reservoir-related works.
  • Report incidents, accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences and assist with investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Monitor emergency-preparedness arrangements and participate in fire, evacuation, rescue, flooding, and emergency-response drills.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of safety inductions, awareness campaigns, training programs, and workshops.
  • Maintain safety-inspection records, observation reports, incident registers, training records, and corrective-action trackers.
  • Compile safety performance data and monitor indicators such as inspection findings, incidents, training completion, and action closure.
  • Escalate serious hazards, repeated violations, and imminent-danger situations through approved communication channels.
  • Contribute to the review and continuous improvement of safety procedures, emergency plans, and site-control measures.
  • Prepare clear daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and technical reports as required by the assignment.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attend meetings, inspections, and site visits anywhere in Saudi Arabia as required.
  • Comply with Saudi laws, applicable codes, Client procedures, quality requirements, and occupational health and safety obligations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in safety engineering.
