Senior Backend Engineer

About the Role

TAWANTECH is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their team. This full-time role involves designing, developing, and optimizing complex backend systems and services. The successful candidate will ensure scalability, security, performance, and reliability while contributing to technical standards and engineering improvements within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot within a microservices architecture.
• Manage the end-to-end delivery of complex features, from technical design through to production deployment.
• Design and optimize database interactions, integrations, and inter-service communication.
• Build and operate event-driven flows utilizing Kafka and enterprise messaging systems.
• Ensure that all solutions meet established security, performance, availability, and maintainability requirements.
• Apply secure coding practices for authentication, authorization, encryption, and sensitive data handling.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering standards across the development squad.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement durable fixes.
• Contribute to technical design decisions and application architecture discussions.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment processes, and observability on OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms.
• Identify technical debt and drive improvements to design and code quality.
• Mentor junior engineers and facilitate knowledge sharing within the chapter.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for this Senior Backend Engineer position should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in backend development. A strong background in designing and implementing robust, scalable systems is essential.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of database optimization and inter-service communication.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, Kafka, and enterprise messaging.
• Understanding of secure coding practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment.
