Senior Flight Simulator Engineer (FSTD)

About the Role

CAE Inc. is seeking a Senior Flight Simulator Engineer (FSTD) to join CAE Middle East. This full-time role involves establishing technical operations to support Riyadh Air’s new training center in Saudi Arabia. The position offers exposure to modern simulators, systems, and equipment, providing opportunities for professional development within the technical function.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTD) and other training devices, including maintenance calls, device setup, conversions, demos, and snag clearance.
• Perform Preventive Maintenance Tasks (PMTs), Daily Readiness (DR), Recurrent QTG runs, Aircraft Database (ADB) updates, and IOS Lesson Plan (LP) updates on training devices and associated systems according to established standards.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve training device issues, including Aircraft on Ground (AOG) and National Aviation Authority (NAA) raised issues. Perform hardware refurbishment and modifications.
• Monitor SimHub/Simissues for updates and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System to record, track, review, update, and monitor deficiencies and maintenance activities. Generate performance reports for TCOPS Management.
• May be assigned as Shift Lead, Team Lead, Device Caretaker, or Task Caretaker, managing all aspects of the assigned role autonomously. Create, improve, or update procedures and guidelines.
• Collaborate with FSTD Technical Specialists on issues requiring testing and troubleshooting. Undertake special projects based on Training Center Operation needs.
• Mentor and provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to junior colleagues, supporting complex tasks and corrective maintenance. Pursue expertise in one or more FSTD systems (*, Visual, Motion, Flight Controls, QTGs).
• Comply with local and global CAE Environmental Health & Safety standards and procedures.
• Prioritize, plan, and coordinate maintenance tasks, review and update issues, generate reports for technical meetings, ensure readiness for NAA recurrent evaluations, and maintain up-to-date maintenance records.
• Ensure all training devices meet CAE, Departmental, and Service Level Agreement KPIs. Address and close projects and DRs in a timely manner.
• Participate in weekly technical meetings, NAA evaluations, internal/external audits, and SLA review meetings. Act as Deputy Manager or Group Leader Technical Operations in their absence.
• Assist in yearly performance evaluations and employee development plans. Mentor and share knowledge with engineers and technicians, developing technical workshops and OJT for FSTD Support Staff.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent command of the English Language, both spoken and written.
• Good understanding of aircraft and FSTD terminology.
• Ability to interpret schematics and other technical documents pertaining to FSTDs.
• Proficiency in performing Preventive Maintenance Tasks and Daily Readiness on FSTDs.
• Knowledge of Analog and Digital principles and theory.
• Adequate troubleshooting skills for Electronic, Electric, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic systems.
• Skilled in the use of test equipment and software diagnostics tools.
• Good understanding and comprehension of Aircraft Systems, Avionics, Motion, and Visual Systems.
• Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel).
• Basic knowledge of computer mainframe/architecture, networking, operating systems (Windows NT/XP, UNIX, Linux, AIX), and software languages (C, C++, FORTRAN).
• Strong knowledge of local and International (EASA, FAA) regulations pertaining to Flight Simulation Training Devices.
