The Role of Investment Associate, Early Stage

BECO Capital is seeking an Investment Associate, Early Stage, to join its Saudi Team in Riyadh. This full-time role focuses on expanding BECO's presence within the Saudi founder ecosystem. The Associate will be responsible for identifying and developing relationships with companies early in their lifecycle, aligning with BECO’s value system. This position involves direct investment work, including models, research, diligence, product testing, memo preparation, and portfolio support, contributing to the team's conviction building.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive early-stage sourcing within the Kingdom, ensuring BECO identifies promising deals promptly.
• Cultivate and maintain founder relationships consistent with BECO’s values, leveraging the platform to provide value.
• Represent BECO across various ecosystem components, including accelerators, angel syndicates, founder/operator communities, university programs, and government initiatives, to generate deal flow and market intelligence.
• Perform due diligence on new and follow-on deals, including research, market sizing, valuation modeling, sensitivity analysis, cohort analysis, customer/channel references, and product testing.
• Draft investment primers and memos for partner review, providing clear recommendations based on first principles.
• Ensure all activities are accurately logged into BECO’s centralized system.
• Support KSA portfolio companies, collect and validate reporting data, identify issues early, and provide high ROI support.
• Develop a differentiated view on market and sector movements.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

This role is designed for an individual with 2-5 years of experience already embedded within the Saudi founder ecosystem. A strong network is a fundamental requirement for this position. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, thoughtful, and energetic, capable of strategic thinking and rapid execution. The role requires an individual who can build and maintain relationships that align with BECO’s long-term vision.

Success Metrics for the First Twelve Months

Within the first twelve months, success in this role will be demonstrated by BECO's recognition within the Saudi founder community as a local VC investing from founding to pre-IPO. The Associate will have established relationships with senior, non-founder employees of top startups in the Saudi ecosystem and will be a known and trusted name among early-stage founders in Riyadh. A significant portion of BECO's quality KSA pipeline should originate from the Associate's efforts. The Associate will have successfully guided opportunities from initial meetings to IC-ready memos with minimal rework, and their investment judgment will be calibrated, with well-reasoned decisions that prove sound over time.
