About the Role

The International Civil Aviation Organization is seeking an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Vertiports Expert to join the team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is critical for evaluating and reviewing standards related to the establishment and operation of vertiport infrastructure for Advanced Air Mobility. The role ensures compliance with essential safety and quality requirements, contributing to the safe integration of AAM technologies into the aviation ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical analyses and studies to ensure the safe integration of AAM technologies into the aviation ecosystem.
  • Build technical capabilities in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) within GACA.
  • Develop regulations and procedures, prepare technical recommendations, and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Define operational concepts, network, and requirements for AAM ground infrastructure.
  • Contribute to developing design and operational regulations for AAM vertiports.
  • Assess safety requirements and emergency procedures at vertiports.
  • Analyze future expansion needs and integration with other transportation networks.
  • Coordinate with developers and operators to verify compliance with established standards.
  • Support inspection and initial certification processes for vertiports.
  • Support and enable tests and flight trials for AAM systems.
  • Conduct technical analyses to ensure safe integration of infrastructure with the aviation system and other transportation networks.
  • Prepare reports accurately and on time.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by direct management related to the nature and scope of the job.
  • Commit to cybersecurity-related tasks and responsibilities.

This position directly contributes to the safe and effective integration of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) into the national aviation system. The work supports GACA’s strategic objectives and ensures alignment with international aviation standards, playing a vital role in the future of air travel infrastructure.

Reporting Structure and Collaboration

The incumbent reports to the General Management of Advanced Air Mobility – AAM, operating within the Aviation Safety and Environmental Sustainability sector. The role requires close coordination with various internal GACA departments, regulatory bodies, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), operators, and international aviation organizations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of professional experience in aviation, infrastructure development, or regulatory affairs, with a specific focus on advanced air mobility or similar complex systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evaluating and developing standards for aviation infrastructure, including design, power systems, and ground movement procedures.
  • Strong understanding of safety and quality requirements within the aviation sector.

Employment Details

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The compensation for this role is set at P5 STEP 1.
