About the Baker Lead Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a full-time Baker Lead for its Riyadh location. This role is responsible for the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring quality and adherence to standards. The position requires 2-5 years of related work experience.

Core Responsibilities

The Baker Lead will prepare breads and pastries, which includes preparing doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating as appropriate. Key duties involve reviewing the daily production sheet to understand the variety of baked goods required, preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, quality, and presentation standards, and utilizing baking and measuring tools and equipment safely and appropriately.

Operational Duties and Compliance

This role is also responsible for maintaining kitchen logs to ensure compliance with the food safety program. The Baker Lead will keep the Chef informed of excess food items to aid in planning daily specials. Strict adherence to and enforcement of food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene, is mandatory. This includes checking and ensuring correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management, and monitoring the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift.

Team Support and Professional Conduct

The Baker Lead will assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, serving as a role model. All company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols, must be followed. This includes reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions, and completing required safety training. Maintaining a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance, protecting company assets, and ensuring the confidentiality of proprietary information are also key aspects of the role. Effective communication, including speaking clearly and professionally and answering telephones with appropriate etiquette, is expected. Developing and maintaining positive working relationships and supporting team goals, while handling sensitive issues with tact and confidentiality, is essential. The Baker Lead will also serve as a department role model or mentor and comply with quality expectations and standards.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. The role also involves moving over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, reaching overhead and below the knees, and performing actions such as bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods is also part of the job requirements. Reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors may also be performed.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a degree from a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School. A minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required. No supervisory experience is necessary for this role. There are no specific license or certification requirements mentioned.
