About National Medical Care

National Medical Care is seeking a highly qualified Consultant Internal Medicine to join its dedicated team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is integral to providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the leadership and quality initiatives within the Internal Medicine department.

Role Summary

The Consultant Internal Medicine is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care to both inpatient and outpatient populations. This role requires adherence to evidence-based medicine, professional medical ethics, and established standards such as CBAHI/JCIA, hospital by-laws, and Ministry of Health regulations. The Consultant will also play a key leadership role in departmental performance improvement, with a specific focus on maintaining quality standards in endocrinology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide superior quality medical treatment and compassionate care to all patients within the scope of clinical privileges.
  • Conduct regular ward rounds independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team to formulate treatment plans.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures relevant to the specialty.
  • Manage patient referrals to appropriate medical facilities and accept referrals for specialized medical problems.
  • Participate in the departmental on-call rota for patient care and admissions, responding to emergencies as required.
  • Uphold patient rights, including security, confidentiality, and privacy, and maintain accurate, timely, and legible medical records.
  • Lead performance improvement functions, including measurement, assessment, and enhancement of clinical and non-clinical processes.
  • Supervise and guide assigned junior medical staff.
  • Actively participate in Continued Medical Education (**** activities, including hospital educational events, national and international conferences, and clinical research.
  • Contribute to training programs for junior medical staff, nursing staff, and technicians.
  • Educate patients and families on their plan of care, health promotion, and teaching, ensuring appropriate documentation.
  • Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, hospital by-laws, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: American Board, Canadian Fellowship, MRCP, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience post-qualification.
  • Licensing: Current valid license to practice medicine in the area of specialty. Registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and/or a current license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia is required.
  • Desirable: Additional experience in a sub-specialty and/or academic affiliation.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills.
  • Fluent proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of Medical by-laws.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Desirable: Communication skills in spoken Arabic.

Reporting Structure and Supervision

The Consultant Internal Medicine reports directly to the Head, Department of Internal Medicine. This role includes supervisory responsibilities over Senior Registrars, Registrars, Residents, General Practitioners, Nurses, and other paramedical staff assigned to the Consultant.
