About the Role

Qiddiya Investment Company is seeking a Director - Risk to join its development management team. This role is based in Riyadh, Riyadh Province, and operates on a full-time basis. The Director - Risk will be instrumental in establishing and maintaining robust risk registers and reports to support decision-making and strategic objectives across diverse projects, particularly within the hospitality sector and large-scale development and construction initiatives.

Role Purpose and Context

The Director - Risk is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive risk management strategies aligned with Qiddiya Investment Company's objectives. This position requires a deep understanding of risk management across all project development stages, from planning through construction. The primary goal is to proactively identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks to safeguard the company's interests and ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and continuously improve the Qiddiya Program risk management framework, procedures, templates, and processes.
  • Oversee the identification and assessment of risks in real estate development and construction projects, including financial, operational, technical, and legal aspects.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and scenario analyses for current and future projects.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance and regular updates of risk registers and databases.
  • Design and implement risk mitigation strategies for high-impact risks.
  • Collaborate with project teams to embed risk management practices into project execution.
  • Lead regular risk reporting, including the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
  • Track and report risks throughout all project lifecycle phases and escalate emerging risks promptly.
  • Provide periodic updates on evolving risks and potential future threats.
  • Lead and mentor the risk management team, fostering continuous learning.
  • Guide the Qiddiya Program and Portfolios in implementing the risk management plan.
  • Lead the implementation of Program and Project risk management plans and produce Portfolio and Project Risk Registers.
  • Create the Program Risk Register, Program Risk Dashboard, and other required reports.
  • Ensure appropriate risk data capture and risk assessments are conducted across the Qiddiya Program and Projects.
  • Provide leadership to ensure risk treatments are identified and effective monitoring and review processes are undertaken.
  • Implement necessary training and provide support to the Qiddiya Program and Project teams.
  • Identify changes to the risk profile, personnel, work, or environment that may affect risk treatment effectiveness.
  • Monitor compliance against best practice standards and codes, including auditing risk management plans and assessing Risk Maturity.
  • Review and approve Quantitative Risk modelling, including Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) and Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA) reports.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate risk controls into project plans, schedules, and budgets.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, construction management, Business Studies, Finance, or a relevant field.
  • Professional certification such as Chartered Risk Analyst (CRA), Certified Risk Management Professional (CEMP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in risk management, with significant experience in real estate development, construction, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience in mega project construction/development.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing risk management strategies at a senior level.

  • In-depth knowledge of risk management tools, frameworks, and regulatory requirements specific to construction and development projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic vision and a forward-thinking risk management approach.
  • Financial acumen and understanding of project financing risks.
  • Working knowledge of Active Risk Management (ARM) software is preferred.
