About the Role
Mindfield Resources is seeking a Head of Strategy & Business Development for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role is critical for established agri-commodity clients in the Saudi flour sector, aiming to leverage their strong brand recognition, capacity, and financial resources to drive contracted revenue growth and secure a competitive advantage. The focus is on proactively originating, structuring, and winning B2B commercial relationships.
Strategic B2B Development
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive B2B customer mapping and tiering strategy across various segments including industrial bakeries, food manufacturers, QSR, HORECA, and distributors. A key objective is to develop and implement a key account acquisition strategy that transitions from legacy coverage to proactive, partnership-based relationships. This includes establishing a market intelligence framework to monitor competitor activities, pricing, and customer dynamics, translating these insights into actionable commercial strategies.
Marketing and Export Strategy
This role involves co-designing the marketing agenda in collaboration with commercial and marketing teams, and creating technical marketing collateral, application-specific product positioning, and account-based marketing programs to support B2B sales and increase share of wallet. Furthermore, the Head of Strategy & Business Development will lead the development of a commercial blueprint for export into East Africa and the GCC. This includes target customer mapping, logistics, pricing architecture, and regulatory requirements, ensuring readiness to activate the export plan upon favorable market conditions.
Product, Pricing, and B2C Premiumization
Ownership of the go-to-market strategy for functional and specialty flours, such as whole wheat, gluten-free, and fortified varieties, is required, aligning the R&D pipeline with B2B and B2C demand signals. A critical responsibility is developing a pricing strategy to optimize margin mix across subsidized bulk, unsubsidized B2B, and premium B2C tiers. The role will also accelerate the shift towards consumer-packaged flour as a high-margin growth area, particularly in smaller pack sizes, and capitalize on the growth of specific flour types by building brand equity and retail presence.
Essential Commodities Background
A background in commodities and agri-food is essential for this role, requiring an understanding of procurement economics, B2B contracting, and consumer behavior. This includes connecting upstream procurement dynamics to downstream commercial strategy, experience in structuring long-term supply relationships and framing value propositions around volume and service, and designing pricing to secure key accounts. Familiarity with East Africa and GCC flour flows, driven by benchmarks, freight economics, currency risk, and sovereign buyers, is also crucial. The role uniquely combines a commodities-trained mindset with an understanding of how commodity products are branded and sold to end consumers.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates are expected to have over 10 years of experience. A strong background in commodities and agri-food is a prerequisite. Experience in B2B relationship architecture, including trading, milling inputs, or agri-commodities, is vital. Fluency in export market dynamics, particularly in East Africa and GCC, is required. The ability to bridge commodity economics with consumer-facing brand strategy is a key differentiator.
