About the Role

American Express Saudi Arabia, established in 1999, is a leading financial company in the Kingdom focused on delivering excellence and innovative payment solutions. The company aims to empower individuals and businesses through advanced payment solutions such as Credit Cards and Charge Cards. This full-time position for an Information Technology Network Administrator is based in Riyadh.

Role Overview

The Information Technology Network Administrator is responsible for the implementation, management, monitoring, and security of American Express Saudi Arabia's network infrastructure. This role ensures high availability, performance optimization, and security compliance across all network and security systems. The administrator will proactively identify risks and support continuous improvement initiatives within the network operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and compliance standards across all Network Operations, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), VPNs, proxies, and DNS security, to meet regulatory and AESA requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SAMA ITGF) and industry standards (PCI DSS) related to IT Network Operations, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Assist in the configuration and maintenance of network hardware, including routers, switches, wireless access points, and load balancers.
  • Investigate and resolve recurring network issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network systems and support business operations.
  • Assist in network capacity planning and optimization to meet current and future network demands.
  • Participate in network projects, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring smooth implementation and minimal service disruption.
  • Participate in evaluating and onboarding new network tools or solutions, including vendor coordination and testing.
  • Evaluate and recommend network solutions and services that align with business and technical needs.
  • Assist in maintaining the IT disaster recovery plan and its execution to ensure rapid recovery and minimal downtime during critical events or failures.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent, are highly preferred. The role requires 5-10 years of experience in network administration or operations, with a preference for experience within the banking or financial sector. Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network equipment from vendors like Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet is necessary.

Required Skills

  • A solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
  • Basic configuration and troubleshooting skills for network devices from vendors such as Cisco and Palo Alto.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and ticketing tools, including Open Text, SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, and ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of Network Operations principles and protocols.
  • Proficiency in monitoring system performance, incident management, change control, and ensuring 24/7 operational continuity.
  • A comprehensive understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements, with the ability to apply them to Network Operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • The ability to analyze hypothetical situations and concepts to identify risks and weaknesses in Network Operations processes.
