About the Role

ENGIE Saudi Arabia is seeking a Mechanical Technician for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role requires 5-10 years of experience and involves ensuring the efficient and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment within the PP11 Power Plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment for self and other Mechanical Technicians, adhering to PP11 Power Plant HSE Procedures and obtaining necessary Permits to Work.
  • Ensure all necessary safety precautions are taken by all personnel and contractors during job execution.
  • Verify the availability and correct usage of tools for safe equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor Mechanical Technicians and Contractors to ensure compliance with Safe Work Practices and HSE Standards.
  • Report any unsafe conditions observed to management.
  • Lead and mentor Mechanical Maintenance Technicians to foster a committed, cohesive, and efficient team.
  • Recommend appropriate training for team members.
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are completed as per Work Orders generated in SAP and that reports are documented.
  • Plan and execute mechanical equipment maintenance in accordance with OEM Manuals and recommended intervals, in coordination with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Review and suggest improvements for Mechanical Maintenance Procedures.
  • Support 24-hour engineering call-out functionality and work to minimize equipment downtime and maximize plant availability.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities to identify and rectify equipment failures.
  • Record and report all rectification jobs and equipment failures, including performing Root Cause Analysis.
  • Collaborate with Plant Operations Personnel to resolve mechanical equipment issues.
  • Discuss planned and unplanned jobs with the Maintenance Manager and assist in outage planning, execution, and budget preparation.
  • Ensure adequate inventories of spares and consumables are maintained, and place requisitions as needed.
  • Ensure necessary tooling is available to all Technicians, that tools are certified annually or as required, and are maintained in good working condition.
  • Provide technical advice to colleagues and contractors to ensure safety and proper execution of plant maintenance practices.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to review and update task lists for equipment and implement initiatives for continuous improvement in SAP scheduling, practices, and documentation.
  • Coach Mechanical Technicians on instrumentation equipment, Safe Work Procedures, and Operational Techniques.
  • Prepare and deliver technical training on various mechanical systems and techniques.
  • Identify and find solutions to potential problems within the department, keeping the Head of Mechanical informed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Mechanical Technician role.
  • Experience within a power plant environment is required.
  • Proficiency in SAP for Work Orders and reporting.
  • Knowledge of OEM manuals and maintenance best practices.
  • Familiarity with HSE procedures and Safe Work Practices.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, repair, and Root Cause Analysis of mechanical equipment failures.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within the PP11 Power Plant. The role requires active participation in a team environment and adherence to strict safety protocols.
