About the Role

Bupa Arabia is seeking a dedicated Registrar in Orthopedics to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves providing high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic services through both in-person clinic and virtual consultation settings, operating under the supervision of a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon. The role is integral to Bupa CareConnect's integrated orthopedic services, focusing on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions. The Orthopedic Specialist will leverage digital health platforms and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to ensure seamless continuity of care across both face-to-face and remote consultations. This position is crucial for maintaining clinical quality, patient safety, and contributing to professional development within the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive orthopedic assessments through both in-person clinical appointments and virtual consultation platforms.
  • Review medical history, symptoms, investigations, and imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT) across physical and remote consultation settings.
  • Recommend and coordinate diagnostic investigations, imaging, and specialist referrals when required, regardless of consultation channel.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EMR system for all in-clinic and virtual encounters.
  • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans suitable for delivery across both virtual and in-person clinic settings.
  • Prescribe medications and recommend non-pharmacological interventions and minor procedures with clear remote-accessible instructions when applicable.
  • Triage patient cases to determine whether management can be conducted virtually or requires in-clinic or surgical intervention.
  • Provide structured virtual and in-person follow-up care, monitoring patient treatment adherence and recovery progress.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases to the Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon or multidisciplinary teams when required.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance requirements and patient safety standards across both in-person and virtual care settings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation for all patient interactions, including virtual consultation records and digital prescriptions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and departmental meetings.
  • Report and manage clinical incidents and adverse events in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Adhere to ICC infection control protocols, telemedicine practice standards, and professional conduct requirements.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams across in-person clinics and digital orthopedic service channels.
  • Coordinate referrals, investigations, and continuity of care seamlessly across virtual and face-to-face encounters.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and virtual clinical handovers.
  • Support smooth patient transitions between virtual consultations and in-clinic or surgical care when escalation is required.
  • Liaise with administrative and support teams to ensure scheduling, documentation, and authorizations are managed across both care modalities.
  • Provide empathetic, patient-centered orthopedic care with clarity and professionalism in both virtual and in-person settings.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, rehabilitation, and home-based exercises in a clear, accessible manner suitable for remote delivery.
  • Ensure patients are clearly guided on when to attend in-clinic versus when virtual follow-up is appropriate.
  • Support service excellence initiatives and respond to patient feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in CME activities, mentor junior physicians, support clinical governance activities, and contribute to departmental strategic initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Specialty training, Master's Degrees, or equivalent in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Valid SCFHS classification and registration as Registrar in Orthopedics.
  • Valid medical license.
  • Valid MOH license or eligibility for licensure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
