Sleep Lab Technologist II

About the Role

King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital is seeking a Sleep Lab Technologist II to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for sleep disorders, requiring 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs.
• Determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or Medical Director and laboratory protocols.
• Complete and verify documentation and explain pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to patients.
• Prepare and calibrate equipment, apply electrodes and sensors, and perform physiologic calibrations to ensure proper functioning and signal quality.
• Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.
• Follow procedural protocols for polysomnographic data acquisition, including MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, and PAP/oxygen titration.
• Document routine observations, sleep stages, clinical events, and procedural changes to facilitate scoring and interpretation.
• Implement appropriate interventions for patient safety and therapeutic needs, such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure and oxygen administration.
• Verify data integrity and complete data collection processes, including instructing patients on questionnaires.
• Recognize and provide age-specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events according to professional guidelines and hospital policies.
• Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.

Service Management and Professional Conduct

• Comply with applicable policies/procedures/guidelines regarding safety and infection control.
• Perform routine equipment care, maintenance, and inventory evaluation.
• Maintain current life support certification.
• Perform sleep lab related procedures including Multiple Sleep Latency Testing, Carbon Dioxide Measurement During Sleep, Esophageal pH Polysomnography, Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), Actigraphy, Portable Monitoring, Polysomnography with NCPAP/BiPAP, Supplemental Oxygen During Sleep, Pulse Oximeter Trend Scoring, NCPAP/BiPAP Subject Training, and Subject Education and Evaluation of Interviews.
• Work according to the assigned schedule, including shifts and on-call duties.
• May act as a preceptor to new employees, students, or interns.
• Provide patient/family education related to health learning needs.
• Respect patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.
• Participate in and support quality improvement and patient safety activities.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field is required.
