About the Role

Enova by Veolia is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer Solar to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is critical for providing technical PV Solar expertise, particularly in design activities for ongoing projects, and supporting the team in pursuing new solar opportunities. The role requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities in Solar Design and Operations

• Provide technical PV Solar expertise for ongoing projects, focusing on design activities.
• Design, develop, test, and supervise PV Solar plants, components, and systems for commercial, industrial, and government sector projects.
• Execute effective implementation and running of PV Solar plants to achieve greater energy savings.
• Review detailed schedules of work, feasibility studies, and cost estimates, benchmarking solar energy production against best practice guidelines.
• Provide inputs for the preparation of project specifications, drawings, and tender documents for Solar and renewable projects, including obtaining statutory approvals.
• Supervise the coordination of plant commissioning activities, including staff assignment and scheduling.
• Provide technical support to mechanical and electrical design engineers on new and refurbishment projects regarding sustainability and energy conservation.

Project Management and Stakeholder Engagement

• Manage project timelines and demonstrate a strong understanding of the project lifecycle, including development, design, procurement, and construction.
• Direct the project team to ensure timely and quality completion of projects.
• Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Establish and maintain good relations with suppliers, supporting negotiations and cost optimization while ensuring quality standards.
• Participate in coordination between Enova customers and team members, executing customer expectations through clear communication.
• Develop proactive working relationships with authorities and assist in identifying service improvement areas, including representing the company at meetings.
• Guide engineers in resolving complex technical issues and identifying control system innovations.
• Provide training on Solar energy generation and the use of renewable/sustainable energy resources.
• Prepare project budgets and monitor financial performance against the budget.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with all relevant quality, health, safety, and environmental management procedures and controls.
• Liaise with the HSEQ department for creating standard operating procedures and support HSEQ staff in incident investigations.
• Finalize and update the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) with HSEQ support and implement resulting risk control measures.
• Conduct toolbox and SOP training as required and prepare the yearly training schedule with HSEQ support.
• Ensure relevant emergency tests are conducted.
• Provide inputs to enhance departmental policy and procedures, developing and implementing controls for energy management.
• Prepare timely and accurate departmental statements and reports, including operation reports.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 2-5 years of experience in PV Solar projects, with good site experience, especially in ground-mounted installations.
• EPC background with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and High Voltage (HV) experience.
• Experience with maintaining minimum functional specifications, commissioning checklists, and standard operating practices for rooftop/carport solar projects.
• Working knowledge of Saudi Arabia's electrical norms, renewable energy regulations, and construction codes.
• Proven ability to effectively execute and manage PV Solar projects with significant commercial awareness.
• Experience in liaising with consultants and contractors.
• Knowledge of resource planning, design principles, and PV Solar commissioning processes.
• Holds a valid Driving License.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and customer-focused with strong planning, organizing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated technical expertise, selling and pitching experience, and client relationship management skills.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves working within a team environment, contributing to the successful delivery of solar projects for Enova by Veolia clients.
