Role Overview: Program Coordinator - Senior Director, Nursing Oncology

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a highly experienced Program Coordinator to serve as a Senior Director for Nursing Oncology. Based in Dhahran, this full-time role involves administering the activities of an assigned division or department, with a comprehensive 24-hour responsibility for patient care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The incumbent will support the JHAH Mission and Vision in cooperation with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and other department Directors/Senior Directors.

Leadership and Administrative Authority

This position holds administrative and functional authority to manage the assigned division or department. The Senior Director will lead managers and support personnel, resolving matters within established authority limits while keeping the CNO informed of significant developments. The role promotes practice standards, policies, and procedures, providing overall guidance and direction for the respective division or department.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the ongoing review of the organization's mission, strategic plans, and policies with the CNO and other Directors/Senior Directors.
• Develop and implement mechanisms to foster collaboration among multidisciplinary healthcare teams for continuous quality improvement in patient care services and delivery.
• Collaborate with the CNO and other Directors/Senior Directors in developing Nursing and Clinical Services Business & Operating plans.
• Develop, prepare, and monitor personnel, supply, and equipment budgets in collaboration with staff and support department directors.
• Develop measures and monitor departmental/divisional operational performance metrics, including Length of Stay (LOS), overtime costs, vacancy, and turnover rates.
• Maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care, including Central Board for Accreditation of Health Care Institutions (CBAHI), Joint Commission International (JCI), and Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).
• Utilize results from Quality Improvement (QI) data collection to enhance patient care outcomes and develop corrective action plans to embed quality into clinical practice.
• Provide staff development opportunities through in-service training, continuing education, or other programs, and recommend out-of-Kingdom training assignments.
• Participate in the planning and coordination of the assigned Department’s nursing program for catastrophic disaster response within Medical Services frameworks.
• Establish unit-based customer service agendas using findings from patient satisfaction surveys and staff input.
• Develop an effective plan for care delivery within the assigned division/department in collaboration with the CNO.
• Serve on or appoint division/department representatives to various intra-organizational and departmental committees, study groups, and special projects teams.
• Direct, guide, and assist Nursing Shift Coordinators and Unit Managers in planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, controlling, and evaluating hospital service activities.
• Identify at least one potential successor for the Director’s role and promote professionalism and academic pursuit within the division/department.
• Lead and design new initiatives and research programs within the area of expertise, contributing to the organization's culture of quality and safety.
• Demonstrate, facilitate, and advocate Evidence-Based Practice.
• Develop and execute departmental objectives and business plans guided by entity/enterprise business plans, contributing to the development of business strategies for the division/department or service line.
• Manage managers and/or professional/clinical employees, including conducting performance appraisals and managing people.
• Work collaboratively across departments and independently resolve complex technical and operational problems.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend resolutions for highly complex or unusual business problems, applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.
• Assess and forecast resource needs across the division/department, allocating resources/budgets to ensure objectives are met, with planning activities generally focused on annual cycles.
• Direct and implement revenue-enhancing and/or cost-reduction measures.
• Achieve work objectives primarily through impact and influence on others.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

The role requires daily internal contact with Managers, Nursing Shift Coordinators, Case Coordinators, Social Workers, Medical Customer Services Network, Pharmacists, Rehabilitation Staff, patients and family members, Clinicians at all levels, and other JHAH healthcare personnel involved in patient care. Frequent external contact will be maintained with departments responsible for employee, patient, and family concerns, including JHAH Human Resources (HR) and JHAH Government Affairs.

Required Experience

Candidates for this Senior Director position must possess over 10 years of relevant experience in a similar leadership or program coordination role within a healthcare setting, preferably with a focus on nursing oncology.
