About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a full-time HSE Officer to join their team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This role is integral to an ongoing Property & Building Supervision Project, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental management across all operations.

Role Overview

The HSE Officer will be responsible for implementing and managing health, safety, and environmental arrangements for the project. This involves ensuring strict compliance with WSP's HSEQ Management System requirements, relevant legal standards, and client specifications, with a primary focus on protecting personnel and maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage health, safety, and environmental arrangements for the project in accordance with WSP HSEQ Management System requirements.
• Supervise HSE Inspectors to ensure effective monitoring of health and safety arrangement implementation at project site level, adhering to legal and client requirements.
• Develop and deliver health, safety, and environmental training to WSP employees, including induction and safe working practices.
• Review and approve contractor’s health, safety, and environmental plans, risk assessments, and method statements against legal and client requirements before work commences.
• Plan and conduct daily morning site visits across project sites to verify that health and safety measures are in place prior to work beginning.
• Conduct weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel, ensuring all corrective and preventive actions are closed out.
• Organise and facilitate HSE meetings with clients, WSP project staff, and contractors.
• Initiate and test emergency response plans, ensuring drills are carried out according to the project schedule and performance standards.
• Ensure HSE Inspectors follow up on contractor’s incident investigation reports, confirm completion, identify and close out corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and provide technical guidance for accident protection.
• Conduct regular site safety reviews.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in health, safety, and environmental management, preferably within property and building supervision projects.

Work Environment and Location

This full-time role is based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and involves working on a Property & Building Supervision Project. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with WSP project staff, clients, and contractors on site to maintain robust HSE standards.
