About Midana Exploration Company

Midana Exploration Company (MEC), a subsidiary of Hancock Prospecting, is a resource exploration and development company focused on the Middle East's mining sector. MEC aims to transition high-potential exploration targets into operational mining assets by combining Hancock Prospecting’s expertise in exploration, mega-project delivery, technology, and operational excellence with local partnerships. Through joint ventures with Saudi resource companies and targeted exploration, MEC contributes to the development of the resource sector in Saudi Arabia.

The Role: Manager External Affairs & Mining Rights

Midana Exploration Company is seeking a Manager External Affairs & Mining Rights to join its team in Jeddah, Makkah. This full-time role requires over 10 years of experience and is central to managing the company's external relations, mining rights, and regulatory compliance within Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will provide strategic advice to the CEO and leadership team on critical regulatory, tenure, stakeholder, environmental, and reputational risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the acquisition, maintenance, and protection of exploration and mining rights, ensuring compliance with licence obligations.
  • Oversee the Company’s tenement portfolio, statutory obligations, renewals, reporting requirements, and government submissions.
  • Collaborate with Exploration and Business Development to identify and secure new mineral rights and growth opportunities.
  • Establish and manage strategic relationships with Saudi government ministries, regulators, regional authorities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the Company in government, industry, and stakeholder engagements, supporting communication of Company priorities.
  • Build and protect the Company’s reputation and social licence through effective stakeholder engagement aligned with Saudi localisation and development priorities.
  • Lead land access, permitting, approvals, and stakeholder agreements for exploration and future project development.
  • Coordinate regulatory submissions and approvals across authorities, maintaining visibility of approval status and dependencies.
  • Oversee and coordinate environmental permitting, compliance, and stakeholder interfaces relevant to KSA activities.
  • Lead and coordinate the Company’s ESG and CSR activities in KSA, including community engagement and social performance initiatives.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to align environmental, social, and governance activities with Company requirements and Saudi regulations.
  • Identify and manage regulatory, tenure, stakeholder, environmental, and reputational risks, providing strategic advice to leadership.
  • Escalate material risks, emerging issues, and opportunities, coordinating appropriate responses across the business.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience.

Work Location and Travel

This role is based at the Company’s office in Jeddah. Regular travel within KSA will be required to support government engagement, licence and project activities, site visits, and stakeholder meetings. Flexibility may be necessary as Midana’s KSA operations develop and expand.
