About the Assistant Manager, Engineering Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Riyadh is seeking an Assistant Manager for its Engineering department. This full-time position supports the management of all engineering and maintenance operations to ensure the safety, security, and optimal functioning of the hotel's physical plant and assets.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager, Engineering will assist in overseeing the building's physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards, as well as managing energy conservation efforts and recommending cost-effective operational methods. Responsibilities also include developing specifications for service contracts, distributing and monitoring work orders for preventive maintenance and repairs, and overseeing the upkeep of grounds, guestrooms, public spaces, and other property facilities. The role supports the development of long-term preventative maintenance plans and asset protection strategies, and assists in project planning for renovations or new construction, coordinating with contractors to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion. Building positive relationships with external entities such as city departments and vendors is also a key aspect of this position.

Operational Oversight and Standards Maintenance

This role includes assisting with the management of the engineering budget and capital expenditure projects. A significant part of the responsibility involves maintaining property standards, ensuring that all building and equipment licenses and certifications are current. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for the maintenance of property life safety systems, including fire fighting equipment, sprinkler systems, and alarm systems. Regular property inspections will be conducted to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in excellent condition, and guest room and common area inspections will be performed to ensure guest satisfaction. The role also involves inspecting and evaluating the physical condition of facilities to determine necessary work, recommending services such as painting and repairs, and managing the inventory of parts and equipment.

Emergency Response and Customer Service

The Assistant Manager will assist in leading the emergency response team for all facility-related issues, ensuring the fire crew has a complete understanding of all procedures, equipment, and alarms. A focus on ensuring exceptional customer service is integral, by displaying leadership in guest hospitality and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations. This includes establishing clear employee expectations, reviewing guest feedback to identify areas for improvement, and collaborating with property leadership to implement corrective actions that enhance guest satisfaction.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED along with 2 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area, including technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing. Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major is acceptable with no prior experience required.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh. The role operates within the dynamic environment of a leading hotel and resort, requiring collaboration with various hotel departments and external service providers.
