About the Role

National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a Consultant Endocrinology to join their team in Riyadh. This employee role involves providing comprehensive patient care within a hospital setting, adhering to high professional standards and evidence-based practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring high-quality medical treatment with compassion and understanding.
• Practice within the scope of professional competence and clinical privileges, adhering to established standards, guidelines, and criteria.
• Conduct ward rounds, individually or as part of a multidisciplinary team, to develop treatment plans.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the specialty of endocrinology.
• Assess and refer patients to other medical facilities as appropriate, and accept referrals within the specialty.
• Participate in the department's on-call rota for patient care and admissions.
• Respond to emergencies, providing advice and active participation when required.
• Uphold patients' rights to security, confidentiality, and privacy.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and legible patient medical records.
• Lead and contribute to organizational performance improvement initiatives, focusing on measurement, assessment, and enhancement of clinical and non-clinical processes.
• Supervise assigned junior medical staff.
• Actively participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) through hospital activities and external meetings.
• Engage in literature review, case reporting, and clinical studies/research.
• Participate in training programs for junior medical staff and in-service training for nursing and technical staff.
• Continuously update medical knowledge and professional skills.
• Participate in assigned committee meetings, such as Quality Improvement and Infection Control.
• Adhere to Department Policies and Procedures, hospital by-laws, Rules, and Regulations.
• Educate patients and families regarding their needs, involving them in the plan of care and respecting their goals and choices.
• Provide health promotion and teaching tailored to the patient's developmental level, learning needs, language preference, culture, and situation.
• Ensure appropriate documentation of patient and family education.
• Perform any other assignments as directed by Hospital Administration or the department head, within the scope of their knowledge and abilities.

Reporting and Supervision

This role reports to the Head, Department of Internal Medicine. The Consultant Endocrinology will supervise Senior Registrars, Registrars, Residents, Nurses, and other assigned paramedical staff.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: American Board, Canadian Fellowship, MRCP, or Equivalent. Higher qualifications in the specialty are desirable.
• Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience post qualification is required. Additional experience in a sub-specialty is desirable.
• Licensure: Current valid license to practice medicine in the area of specialty. Registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and/or a current license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia is mandatory.

Required Competencies and Skills

• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of Medical by-laws.
• Communication in spoken Arabic is desirable.
