About the Design Manager Role at Haskoning

Haskoning is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join its Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) Data Centre team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position offers a challenging opportunity to contribute to the design and engineering of reliable and sustainable data centres for a global leader in the industry. You will work with demanding clients and collaborate with international colleagues, utilizing advanced 3D design tools to deliver high-quality solutions.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

As a Design Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary design assignments for MCF projects, ensuring high-quality output across various specializations including Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, Structural, Civil, Fire, Security, Controls, and Telecoms. You will manage the entire design process, guide cross-border teams, and ensure alignment with client requirements and industry standards. A key aspect of this role involves driving innovation throughout the project lifecycle and actively contributing to Haskoning's ambition to be the world's leading Data Centre Consultant.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the design process, quality, and budget for multidisciplinary teams of 40 to 60 employees.
• Create and manage the design delivery schedule and distribute workload within the team.
• Lead and challenge multidisciplinary design solutions and changes.
• Collaborate closely with clients and lead engineers to ensure design solutions comply with requirements, local codes, and industry standards.
• Coordinate and optimize design with multidisciplinary teams and external parties.
• Communicate innovative ideas and designs to clients and colleagues.
• Play an active role in improving internal business processes and sharing knowledge within your field.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Over 5 years of experience managing multidisciplinary design, engineering, and construction projects, preferably in data centres or related sectors. Local experience is preferred.
• Affinity with digital and automated design and engineering processes (*, BIM360, CDE).
• Good knowledge of applicable codes, standards, best practices, and local regulations in the design and construction industry.
• A good understanding of the daily (operational) business of clients.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Arabic is also preferred.

This team comprises experts in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction, civil, structure, building, architecture, fire safety, control engineering, and security technology, working collaboratively to develop integrated designs for Data Centres.

Location and Work Type

This role is based in Riyadh, KSA. As clients are located nationally and internationally, flexibility towards traveling is expected. The position is full-time.
