About the Role

The United Nations (UN) is seeking an Individual Contractor (IC) Research Assistant to support its operations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is designed for an individual with 0-1 years of experience, contributing to the UN's mission of advancing sustainable development within the Kingdom.

Role Context and Objectives

This role is integral to the UN Secretary-General's Development System reform, aimed at enhancing the UN's effectiveness in delivering on the 2030 Agenda. The IC Research Assistant will provide crucial research and analytical support to the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) and the UN Country Team (UNCT). The objective is to deliver comprehensive research packages that enable focused collaboration on specific areas, thereby promoting progress on sustainable development in Saudi Arabia and aligning with the national aspirations of Vision 2030.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver composite research packages, including sector mapping, policy briefs, and strategy notes.
• Provide well-researched topical and sectoral mapping to the RC Office and UNCT.
• Conduct literature reviews to inform policy development.
• Prepare strategy notes to support UNCT initiatives.
• Contribute to enhancing and accelerating the development of Saudi Arabia towards achieving Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Law, Economics, Statistics, or another related Social Science is required.
• Candidates must submit a copy of their required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong research and writing skills are essential for this role.
• The ability to synthesize information and present it clearly in written formats is crucial.
• Familiarity with sustainable development concepts and the UN Agenda 2030 is beneficial.

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role operates under the direct supervision of the Head of the Resident Coordinator's Office, contributing to the collective efforts of the UN Country Team.
