About the Role

Mace Group is seeking a Senior Health & Safety Manager to join a significant program in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is integral to a large-scale, mixed-use development project encompassing sports facilities, entertainment, arts, and associated infrastructure. Mace is a delivery partner on this program, requiring experienced professionals to lead integrated teams through all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the development and implementation of the project HSE strategy during the design phase.
• Review design proposals to identify and mitigate health, safety, and buildability risks through methods like design risk reviews, HAZID, and HAZOP.
• Ensure HSE considerations are integrated into construction planning, logistics strategies, temporary works, and sequencing.
• Contribute to pre-construction planning, risk workshops, and constructability reviews.
• Serve as the primary HSE oversight lead during site mobilization and construction.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks to monitor compliance.
• Monitor the HSE performance of contractors and subcontractors across all work fronts.
• Identify unsafe practices, trends, and risks, ensuring timely escalation and corrective actions.
• Support the implementation of improvement and recovery actions when performance falls below expectations.
• Promote a proactive, risk-based approach to HSE throughout the project.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree qualification in Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Chartered or professional HSE qualification (*, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in construction HSE roles on major projects.
• Proven experience across design and build projects, including pre-construction and construction phases, and major commercial/mixed-use developments.
• Experience within delivery partner or PMC environments is preferred.
• Must meet the necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and possess relevant work experience on high-value projects/programs for a project management consultancy business, as required for immigration and client approval.
