About the Director of Human Resources Role
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Human Resources for its property in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah. This full-time position reports directly to the property General Manager, with a functional reporting line to the Regional Senior Director of Human Resources. The Director will be a key member of the property's executive committee, contributing significant human resource generalist knowledge and expertise.
Role Responsibilities and Strategic Alignment
This role is accountable for talent acquisition, succession and workforce planning, performance management, and employee development. The Director will ensure the efficient use of technology and coach others to influence and execute business objectives. The position operates with considerable independence, developing processes to achieve objectives aligned with broader business goals. A Human Resource Business Plan, aligned with property and brand strategies, guides the delivery of HR services to support business success.
Key Duties and Tasks
- Executing and following up on engagement survey related activities.
- Championing and building talent management ranks to support property and region diversity strategies.
- Translating business priorities into property Human Resources strategies, plans, and actions.
- Implementing and sustaining Human Resources initiatives at the property.
- Coordinating the human capital review process and leading succession planning activities.
- Assessing the property's leadership pipeline and assisting with follow-up actions.
- Creating value through proactive approaches to performance outcomes and cost control.
- Monitoring the effective use of myHR by property managers and employees.
- Leading and participating in succession management and workforce planning.
- Serving as a key change manager for initiatives with high employee impact.
- Attending owners meetings to provide context on Human Resources results and demonstrate understanding of owner priorities.
- Supervising on-property Human Resources staff and market-based Human Resources Specialist resources where appropriate.
Staffing, Recruitment, and Compensation Management
- Analyzing open positions to balance talent development and business needs.
- Serving as a coach and expert facilitator for the selection and interviewing process.
- Identifying opportunities for work process and staffing optimization.
- Making staffing decisions to manage the talent cadre and pipeline.
- Developing staffing strategies in collaboration with hiring managers, including consultation on compensation and benefits.
- Monitoring the sourcing process and staffing outcomes, ensuring manager competence in evaluating staff.
- Staying informed on internal and external compensation and work competitive environments.
- Leading the planning of the hourly employee total compensation strategy and championing its communication and proper use.
- Participating in quarterly internal equity analysis and reviewing reports for resolution.
- Creating and implementing total compensation management packages, including recognition and incentive programs.
Staff Development and Employee Relations
- Ensuring the completion of duties and responsibilities for property Human Resources staff members.
- Ensuring property Human Resources staff are properly trained to respond to employee inquiries.
- Serving as a resource to property Human Resources staff on employee relations questions and issues.
- Continually reinforcing positive employee relations concepts.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess:
- A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related major, plus 4 years of experience in human resources, management operations, or a related professional area.
- OR
- A 4-year bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related major, plus 2 years of experience in human resources, management operations, or a related professional area.
