About Grungy Mexican Grill and the Role

Grungy Mexican Grill, an operating Mexican restaurant located in Tabuk, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a Head Chef for a full-time position. The restaurant has a growing customer base and a menu that is already well-received, particularly its tacos and burritos.

Role Purpose and Scope

This role is designed for a Head Chef or Menu Development Chef who will take ownership of the culinary aspects of the business. Beyond daily cooking, the position focuses on improving the existing menu, creating new items, testing innovative ideas, and integrating customer feedback to support the restaurant's continued growth. The Head Chef will work directly with the owner and lead a committed team of 5 kitchen staff. While the owner manages business operations including marketing, purchasing, accounting, operations, and quality, this role will concentrate on food development, menu enhancement, and kitchen execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new menu items, limited-time offers, seasonal selections, and combo meals.
  • Improve existing menu items based on sales performance data and customer feedback.
  • Review sales weekly, test new culinary ideas, retain successful dishes, and remove underperforming items.
  • Create clear recipe cards for new dishes, detailing portioning, preparation steps, and plating standards.
  • Train the kitchen team on new items to ensure consistent quality, speed, and execution.
  • Monitor overall food quality and ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Analyze customer preferences and translate feedback into actionable menu improvements.
  • Support costing, portion control, and operational practicality for all new menu additions.
  • Contribute to the restaurant's distinctiveness through enhanced food quality, innovative flavors, and continuous culinary improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a culinary role, with a preference for experience as a Chef, Head Chef, or Menu Development Chef.
  • Demonstrated passion for cooking, recipe testing, and generating new food concepts.
  • Ability to adapt flavors and menu items to align with customer preferences.
