Senior Elasticsearch Observability Engineer

About the Role

Emdad By Elm is seeking a Senior Elasticsearch Observability Engineer to join their team in Makkah, with locations in Jeddah and Makkah. This full-time role requires strong hands-on experience in managing Elasticsearch clusters and observability environments in production. The position focuses on Elasticsearch administration, cluster scalability, security, observability, Elastic ML capabilities, automation, and integration with enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Elasticsearch clusters across development, staging, and production environments.
• Plan and execute cluster scaling strategies, including shard allocation, node sizing, and Index Lifecycle Management (ILM).
• Act as the primary technical escalation point for Elasticsearch-related issues across teams.
• Apply security hardening practices for Elasticsearch environments, managing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and TLS certificates.
• Establish Service Level Objective (SLO) monitors in Kibana Observability and link SLO breaches to incident management workflows.
• Integrate observability environments with various company solutions and maintain alerting runbooks.
• Implement and maintain Elastic ML-powered features such as Outlier Detection, Regression, and Classification, utilizing the Data Frame Analytics API.
• Work with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, perform Linux/Unix system administration, and apply networking fundamentals and storage optimization.
• Develop automation and operational tooling using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated strong hands-on experience in managing Elasticsearch clusters.
• Proven experience with observability environments in production settings.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Elasticsearch administration, cluster scalability, and security hardening.
• Experience with Elastic ML capabilities, including Outlier Detection, Regression, and Classification.
• Familiarity with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Competence in Linux/Unix system administration, networking fundamentals, and storage optimization.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages for automation and operational tooling.

Work Type and Location

This is a full-time position based in Makkah, with work locations available in Jeddah and Makkah.
