About the Admission and Discharge Officer Role

Baraya Extended Care is seeking a dedicated Admission and Discharge Officer to manage patient intake and departure processes efficiently and professionally. This full-time position is based in Medina and requires 2-5 years of relevant experience. The role is crucial for ensuring a smooth and positive experience for patients and their families throughout their journey with our facility.

Core Responsibilities

The Admission and Discharge Officer will oversee all aspects of patient admissions and discharges. This includes accurate patient registration, verification of insurance and financial details, and seamless coordination with clinical and administrative departments. Maintaining high standards of customer service is paramount to facilitate a streamlined patient experience.

Admission Process Management

  • Greet patients and visitors professionally and courteously.
  • Register patients accurately within the Hospital Information System (HIS).
  • Verify patient identity, demographic information, and insurance coverage.
  • Collect and process all necessary admission documents and consent forms.
  • Liaise with nursing units and other departments regarding bed availability and patient placement.
  • Inform patients and families about admission procedures, hospital policies, and required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance requirements and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Maintain patient information confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.

Discharge Process Coordination

  • Coordinate patient discharge with nursing units, physicians, and billing departments.
  • Confirm completion of all discharge documentation and physician orders.
  • Ensure all financial clearances and insurance approvals are finalized before discharge.
  • Prepare and process discharge paperwork and final billing statements.
  • Provide patients and families with clear discharge instructions and direct them to appropriate departments as needed.
  • Update patient records and ensure accurate system documentation.
  • Facilitate a smooth and timely discharge to enhance patient satisfaction.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Diploma holders with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in patient admissions, discharge services, or patient affairs within a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Experience with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and insurance processes is preferred.
