About the Role

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking an IT Manager for the Crowne Plaza in Medina, Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. This contract position serves as the primary contact for computer hardware servicing, responsible for managing and monitoring all computer hardware to ensure systems are properly installed and operating efficiently within the hotel environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain an up-to-date list of all computer hardware and software at the hotel.
  • Monitor system performance and maintain a logbook of performance metrics.
  • Ensure all computer media saves and backups are completed, documented, and stored according to specifications.
  • Administer user IDs, passwords, and sensitive system utilities, securing critical resources under supervision.
  • Maintain technical and user documentation, system reports, newsletters, and announcements.
  • Notify department heads on current computer-related issues, new releases, MIS trends, and viruses.
  • Manage configuration reports, program files, and data files on computer systems for maximum operating efficiency.
  • Act as the primary contact for all computer-related external vendors.
  • Install and test corporate-approved program changes to hotel computer systems.
  • Investigate and report software problems to vendors or the Support Centre.
  • Coordinate the purchase of program applications or enhancements for specific hotel needs, if not covered by existing standards.
  • Provide a written monthly progress report to the GM, Director of Finance and Business Support, and Area IT Leader.
  • Establish, document, test, and communicate disaster recovery emergency procedures.
  • Ensure all necessary settings are properly configured on computing systems, hardware, and servers.
  • Run routine software/hardware inventory checks and report status to hotel management.
  • Inspect network performance and redesign if necessary to meet hotel operational needs.
  • Take preventive measures to foresee, identify, and analyze potential system performance issues.
  • Ensure all cabling, network diagrams, and LSOP are up to date.

System Management and Security

  • Stay updated with all approved systems and technology, including PC LAN, software operating systems, PMS, POS, voicemail, call accounting, cabling, hub/switch management, electronic door locking systems, virus protection, and hotel IT security/firewalls.
  • Understand all standard and customized features of the Hotel front office system.
  • Maintain uncompromising data and physical security standards.
  • Control security for the computer room, ensuring fire protection, temperature control, and power requirements meet specifications.
  • Follow up on outstanding points from the latest IT audit under supervision.
  • Ensure all hotel routine maintenance for IT equipment complies with policies and standards.
  • Conduct and coordinate annual PCI and credit card/data security training for hotel employees.
  • Ensure all hotel policies and information security comply with standards.
  • Ensure viable solutions are adapted for the hotel disaster recovery plan and business continuity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure all IT-related items meet various audit requirements.
  • Ensure all hotel IT Systems are under appropriate maintenance contracts and have routine health checks and repair schedules.

Strategic IT and Team Leadership

  • Provide recommendations and drive results to ensure the hotel has an appropriate technology roadmap for short-term and long-term needs.
  • Identify colleagues to train users on systems.
  • Select suitable software/hardware vendors for the hotel.
  • Evaluate and assess the life cycle of all technology-related solutions and assets, providing advice for hardware/software refresh.
  • Ensure hotel management receives an accurate fixed asset budget and departmental operating budget reflecting IT requirements.
  • Work with department heads on budget preparation and management, including evaluating vendor proposals and assisting in annual budget coordination.
  • Work with HR on resource planning and management, including assisting in future staffing needs, recruitment, preparing induction programs, maintaining departmental standards, conducting training needs analysis, providing input for appraisals, coaching, counseling, and balancing team workload.
  • Train employees to enable them to take responsibility during the absence of IT colleagues.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree or Vocational Certificate in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • 4 years of related experience in computer setup and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of networks, operating systems, and databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player, proactive, responsible, hardworking, and capable of working under pressure.
