About the Role

Role Overview

The primary function of this role is to provide expert peer review for academic manuscripts within the field of Marine Engineering. This involves critically evaluating submitted research to ensure its quality, originality, and contribution to the field. The reviewer will play a crucial part in the academic publishing process by offering objective assessments and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate the novelty and originality of submitted manuscripts, assessing their contribution to the field of Marine Engineering.
• Critically assess the study design, methodology, and clarity of presentation to ensure reproducibility and scientific rigor.
• Verify that the manuscript adequately incorporates and cites relevant and up-to-date literature.
• Analyze the presentation of results and conclusions, ensuring they are well-supported by the data and are significant to the discipline.
• Provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback to authors and editors, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and potential ethical concerns.
• Make recommendations regarding manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection based on the evaluation.

Required Qualifications

• A Doctorate (PhD) or equivalent advanced degree in Marine Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the field.
• A record of publishing at least 5 papers in SCI/SSCI journals within the past three years.
• A thorough understanding of research methodologies and ethical principles relevant to Marine Engineering.
• Prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review systems.
