About the Role
Nama Chemicals Co. is seeking a Superintendent, Operations to lead the day-to-day operational activities at its facility in Al Jubail. This full-time role involves ensuring the proper function of all equipment, coordinating with maintenance staff to resolve issues, and managing all operations through subordinate supervisory personnel. The Superintendent will utilize knowledge of product technology, production methods, procedures, and equipment capabilities to facilitate efficient production.
Key Operational Responsibilities
- Evaluate the performance of supervisors and operators for compliance with established policies and Company objectives.
- Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operations reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operational problems.
- Review and monitor the accuracy of SAP Production quantities entered by the team, comparing figures with Finance and Warehouse Department records.
- Recommend and/or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
- Delegate and assign work tasks to Engineers and Supervisors to achieve set operation targets.
- Maintain accurate inventory and ensure proper storage of received raw materials.
- Ensure quality work is performed by the operations team and contracting manpower.
- Prepare manpower schedules based on business plans and goals to meet production targets.
Strategic and Financial Management
- Work with executive staff to plan business objectives, develop organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations between departments, and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
- Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control to optimize production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Manage vendor relationships with machine equipment manufacturers and negotiate purchases of new equipment.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce organizational policies and procedures to improve overall operations.
- Manage the operations budget to ensure minimal production cost and optimal product quality.
- Prepare the financial budget for the department and communicate cost control targets to Management.
- Monitor the budget against the plan and take actions to assure adherence to the limits set in the budget.
- Maintain overall control of production cost, including manpower.
- Review and approve expense Design Change Request projects which can be accomplished through direct maintenance orders without outsourcing manpower.
- Prepare expenditure budgets and CAPEX budgets to meet production targets.
Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ)
- Comply with NAMA policies and Safety, Health, and Environment Management System procedures, contributing to target rates and NAMA IMS certified standards.
- Be accountable for all subordinatesโ safety compliance.
- Maintain a visible and active field presence to promote a safe working environment and assure activities are conducted in an environmentally compliant manner per environmental regulations and permitting.
- Suggest and manage training for the team to ensure proper proficiency and maintain a high level of compliance and competency.
- Collaborate with Safety, Health, and Environment Management System managers to develop and implement safety policies for general plant operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelorโs Degree from a reputable college or university.
- Over 10 years of experience, including having successfully handled a large operations team and demonstrated ability to lead by holding self and team accountable.
- General knowledge of Chemical plant safety requirements and protocols.
- Goal-oriented on safe work practices and environmental safety requirements.
- General knowledge of quality requirements for IMS.
Work Environment
This role requires responsiveness to emergencies 24/7 and other upsets, and may necessitate working nights and/or weekends to ensure continuous operational integrity.
