About Penspen and the Role
Penspen is seeking a Senior Contracts Engineer to join its team in Al Khafji, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to managing engineering and construction contracts for significant oil and gas projects. The role requires a professional capable of overseeing complex contractual agreements and ensuring adherence to established guidelines.
Role Purpose and Context
The Senior Contracts Engineer will operate within the dynamic environment of major oil and gas developments, focusing on the meticulous administration and oversight of project contracts. This involves proactive management to prevent disputes and effective resolution of claims, contributing directly to project stability and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring contractors comply with all signed contractual rules and obligations.
- Managing claims, including addressing and resolving disagreements concerning project costs.
- Administering contracts throughout their lifecycle, from initiation to closeout.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following qualification and experience profiles:

Option 1:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Administration, Business, or an equivalent closely related field.
- Twelve (12) years of experience in project contract administration, procurement, vendor communication, and contract writing skills.
- At least ten (10) years of this experience must be in contract-relevant activities for major Oil and Gas/Petrochemical projects.

Option 2:
- A Diploma or equivalent, combined with a Certificate from a recognized agency in Contract Management.
- Fourteen (14) years of experience in project management activities, project contract administration, procurement, communication, and contract writing skills.
- This must include at least ten (10) years in related contract activities for major Oil and Gas/Petrochemical projects.
Essential Skills and Advantages
- Excellent knowledge of various contracting types, strategies, claims, their causes, and preventive actions.
- Previous experience in ARAMCO projects is considered an added advantage.
Work Location
This full-time position is based in Al Khafji, located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
