Job Description

About the Opportunity

Linnk Group is seeking a Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) substation projects, up to 380kV. This contract role, based in Al Kharj, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, involves preparing primary plant designs, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory standards, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the primary design for Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS), Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) substations up to 380kV.
  • Prepare and review General Arrangement (GA) drawings, equipment layouts, sections, and 3D models.
  • Review vendor drawings and technical specifications to ensure project alignment and compliance.
  • Coordinate effectively with civil, protection & control, system studies, and other engineering teams.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues and facilitate project progression.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) Technical Specifications (TESPs), client specifications, and all applicable industry standards.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and timely delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of dedicated experience in HV/EHV substation primary design.
  • Demonstrated experience in both the tender and execution phases of substation projects.

Technical Skills and Industry Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of SEC TESPs and relevant transmission/distribution standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; knowledge of Revit and Navisworks is considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations and Safe-by-Design principles.

Essential Requirements

  • Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) approval is required.
  • Possession of a valid Saudi Iqama is mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work across various project sites in Saudi Arabia, including Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, and Abha.
