Senior Telecom Engineer Role

Assystem Radicon is seeking a Senior Telecom Engineer to join its team in Al Khobar, Eastern Province. This full-time role involves leading telecommunications and ICT design activities for various projects, providing technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. The position requires 5-10 years of experience in telecom/ICT engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead telecommunications and ICT design activities for assigned projects, coordinating and supervising engineers and designers.
• Provide technical direction, plan discipline activities, and monitor design progress.
• Lead design activities for various systems, including telecommunications infrastructure (OSP, ISP, fiber-optic, copper networks, duct-bank systems), structured cabling and data systems (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi), ICT systems (network architecture, IP communication), and security and surveillance systems (CCTV, ACS, intrusion detection).
• Develop infrastructure telecom networks, including master planning, external fiber-optic networks, duct-bank routing, and network topology, considering maintainability, resilience, and Saudi telecom service-provider requirements.
• Prepare and review design documentation such as Design Basis Reports, network architecture diagrams, system layouts, specifications, Bills of Quantities, and tender documentation.
• Conduct and review engineering calculations and studies, including fiber-loss budgets, network bandwidth assessments, rack capacity, equipment power requirements, and CCTV coverage studies.
• Ensure compliance with Saudi regulatory requirements, including CST regulations, Saudi Building Code, and service-provider standards (STC, Mobily, Zain), as well as international standards (TIA, BICSI, ISO/IEC, IEEE).
• Coordinate telecom requirements with CST and relevant service providers, supporting technical submissions and attending coordination meetings.
• Coordinate telecommunications and ELV systems with multidisciplinary teams, focusing on telecom room locations, cooling, power, cable containment, and utility corridors.
• Coordinate telecom models within the BIM environment, participate in clash detection, and resolve spatial coordination issues.
• Perform technical checks, discipline reviews, and interdisciplinary design reviews, ensuring adherence to project standards and Assystem's Quality Management System.
• Participate in client technical meetings, present design concepts, provide recommendations, and support the assessment of alternative solutions.
• Provide tender and construction support, including responding to queries, assisting with technical bid evaluation, reviewing contractor submissions, and supporting testing and commissioning activities.
• Evaluate alternative technologies, promote scalable infrastructure, incorporate redundancy, and support smart-building and digital-infrastructure strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience: 8–10 years of relevant telecom/ICT engineering experience, with demonstrable experience designing telecom and low-current systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.
• Leadership: Experience leading or coordinating telecom engineers and designers.
• Work Environment: Good experience working in multidisciplinary design environments.
• Regional Experience: Saudi Arabian project experience is strongly preferred.
• Professional Registration: Valid or eligible professional registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers. Relevant international professional accreditation is advantageous.
• Certifications (Advantageous): BICSI RCDD, CCNA / CCNP, vendor-certified networking qualifications, relevant security-system certifications, or ICT/data-center certifications. These certifications complement strong design-engineering experience.

• Technical Knowledge: Strong telecommunications engineering knowledge, ICT, and ELV design capability, with knowledge of both building and infrastructure telecom systems.
• Leadership & Problem Solving: Team leadership, technical problem-solving, design coordination, technical checking, and review.
• Communication & Coordination: Client-facing communication, service-provider coordination, and authority coordination.
• Organizational Skills: Planning and organization, quality awareness, risk awareness, and the ability to manage several design packages simultaneously.
• Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Microsoft Visio, BIM collaboration platforms, network planning/design tools, Wi-Fi survey/design software, CCTV design tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
