Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Acwa China is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Al Qassim. This full-time role involves planning and supervising all mechanical maintenance activities for plant equipment, including preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as monthly and annual outage and overhauling work. The Mechanical Engineer will work under the direction of the Section Head-Mechanical / Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign preventive and corrective maintenance jobs as directed by the Maintenance Manager and supervise maintenance staff activities.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence related to work.
• Execute work orders through CMMS (SAP) and coordinate with the planning engineer for job completion and technical matters.
• Ensure necessary communications and relations are maintained to report on the status of matters requiring action and to ensure corrective action is undertaken.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in executing corrective and planned maintenance in accordance with the annual scheduled maintenance plan.
• Perform technical evaluation of quotations received from the purchase department and recommend appropriate choices.
• Prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and consumables, ensuring budgetary constraints are met and strategic spares are available.
• Review and recommend new maintenance procedures and work instructions.
• Supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of all personnel assigned to the area.
• Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact and Hazard Risk Assessments are carried out, controlled, and updated.
• Implement, monitor, and report IMS objectives, targets, and programs, and provide necessary resources for effective implementation.
• Report IMS performance to management periodically and ensure legal, contractual, and organizational compliance.
• Identify root causes for non-conformances/deviations and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Identify competency gaps for subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions, including annual performance evaluations.
• Provide on-the-job training to new employees and evaluate their OJT performance.
• Identify, document, and control hazards in the assigned work area, ensuring aspects identified are monitored and operational controls are followed.
• Report deviations in the Integrated Management System, emergencies, incidents, and near misses.
• Ensure effective resource utilization and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering roles, preferably within a plant or industrial maintenance setting.
• Demonstrated experience in planning and supervising preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Proficiency in using CMMS, specifically SAP, for work order execution and coordination.
• Strong understanding of environmental aspect-impact and hazard risk assessment.
• Experience with Integrated Management Systems (IMS) implementation and reporting.

Work Environment

The position involves working near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. There may be occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or chemical risks, and electrical shock in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, though very loud conditions can occur.
