Individual Aircraft Certification Engineer (IACE) (Principal Engineer)

About the Role

Airbus Americas, Inc. is seeking an Individual Aircraft Certification Engineer (IACE) (Principal Engineer) for a full-time position in Al Qatif. This role involves providing in-service vehicle airworthiness expertise and managing airworthiness approval for structural and system repair solutions, as well as in-service vehicle flight conditions. Engineers at Airbus work on complex aircraft throughout their lifecycle, from product development to manufacturing and direct customer support.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the global certification process for deviations or potential issues affecting individual aircraft prior to delivery, initiating corrective actions as needed.
• Coordinate with Airbus and customer delivery teams, site and global certification personnel, design offices, and relevant Aviation Authorities to prepare justifications and documentation for aircraft certification.
• Coordinate the application and issuance of the individual aircraft Certificate of Airworthiness (*, FAA Form 8100-2) with the relevant Aviation Authority.
• Monitor applicable regulatory requirement changes or additions that may affect the airworthiness status of each individual aircraft prior to delivery.
• Develop, establish, and maintain certification management tools, including certification program plans, data requirement matrixes, action item matrixes, and risk matrixes.
• Coordinate any exemption, waiver, or derogation requests with EASA and the registration country's Aviation Authority.
• Establish compliance status with design and/or operational requirements (*, FAR 121 & FAA Type Design) when requested by the Customer (RFC) or the relevant Aviation Authority.
• Sign and release the Aircraft Design Declaration (ADD), attesting compliance with:
  1. EASA type design.
  2. The importing Regulatory Authority (*, FAA) type design per the relevant Type Certificate Data Sheet.
  3. Approval of all changes in addition to the type design.
  4. Review of all concessions with the suffix R for Airworthiness Certification impacts per EASA CS 25 and FAR part 25.
  5. Research and validation of any differences in Type Design and the aircraft configuration.

Work Environment

The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama, serves as a hub for hundreds of Airbus engineers. This center supports the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations, and services for all product types globally.
