Its core EPC activities include Power and Water Projects, Transmission and Distribution Projects, Building Construction (Industrial & Commercial) Projects, and Electro-Mechanical projects.
The Opportunity
alfanar is seeking a Civil QA/QC Engineer to join its team in Dammam. This full-time position is critical for performing project civil Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities. The role ensures that all operations are conducted efficiently, in a timely manner, and in strict adherence to quality standards as defined by company policies and procedures, thereby contributing to departmental operational plans and developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the Quality Management System (QMS) for project quality inspection and coordinate quality-related activities with clients, consultants, and vendors.
- Maintain system manuals, international and national standards, client specifications, technical data sheets, product catalogues, and all relevant inspection documents.
- Verify accreditations, certifications, approvals, and profiles of vendors and external agencies.
- Manage quality records, including logbooks, QA/QC weekly reports, internal inspection reports, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Prepare quality-related documents such as Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), Method of Statements (MOS), Checklists, and QA/QC weekly reports.
- Ensure works are executed according to Project Technical Specifications (PTS), Issued For Construction (IFC) drawings, and approved method statements.
- Confirm proper inspection of works at required stages as per ITP or client requirements, and ensure all materials and equipment comply with contract specifications.
- Oversee site installation inspections, material receiving inspections, and report findings to the concerned authority.
- Assure the maintenance and calibration of inspection and testing equipment, and carry out inspections and testing as per plan.
- Prepare Checklists and Requests for Information (RFIs) for consultant approval and inspections.
- Coordinate with the Execution Team, Project Management, Client, and Consultant on all QC-related matters.
- Liaise with independent testing laboratories for material testing, follow up on test reports, and submit them to the consultant.
- Report quality-related matters to the Project Manager for necessary action and to the TQM Manager for information.
- Obtain, verify, and maintain quality records in a traceable, easily retrievable, and secure manner, including proper logging of QC documents.
Leadership and Operational Accountabilities
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to subordinates, ensuring fair task distribution and effective team performance.
- Perform planned activities to meet operational and development targets within delivery schedules, utilizing resources effectively.
- Resolve operational problems and escalate complex issues as required.
- Ensure adherence to quality requirements and develop effective quality control processes.
- Coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, and procedures, actively seeking automation opportunities.
- Comply with all relevant company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental management procedures within the defined work area.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a QA/QC Civil engineering role.
- Demonstrated ability to implement Quality Management Systems and ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards.
- Strong coordination and communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders including clients, consultants, and internal teams.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, within a dynamic construction and engineering environment. The role requires active participation in project sites and coordination with various teams to ensure quality assurance and control throughout project lifecycles.
