About the Role

Al Qaryan Group is seeking a Fleet & Operators Controller to join their team in Dammam, Eastern Province. This full-time role is central to optimizing the organization's heavy machinery and field personnel, including drivers and heavy equipment operators. The Controller ensures the synchronization of human capital and physical assets to meet project demands efficiently and safely.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the end-to-end optimization, strategic scheduling, and safe operation of the company's fleet and operators. This involves bridging project requirements with available assets, maximizing fuel and maintenance efficiency, and ensuring strict compliance with all transport and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet & Asset Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of fleet vehicles and heavy machinery, including registration, licensing, tracking, and decommissioning. Monitor equipment locations, idle times, and operational hours using telematics systems. Design and enforce preventive maintenance schedules to minimize breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Operator & Driver Management: Develop shift rosters, rotation schedules, and project assignments for all operators and drivers. Monitor performance and behavior through telematics data, implementing corrective action plans as needed. Verify and track the validity of licenses, permits (including Aramco/TUV certifications), and medical checks. Act as the initial point of contact for HR-related matters such as disputes, attendance, leaves, and disciplinary actions. Conduct safety talks, coordinate defensive driving training, and enforce mandatory rest periods to prevent fatigue.
  • Project Execution & Financial Control: Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure timely delivery of assets and qualified personnel to job sites. Track and report on key cost drivers, including fuel consumption, repair expenses, toll fees, and operator overtime. Lead investigations into incidents such as traffic accidents, equipment failures, or property damage, preparing comprehensive risk and insurance reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in fleet and operator management.
  • Demonstrated experience in asset lifecycle management, telematics, and preventive maintenance.
  • Proven ability to manage manpower scheduling, performance monitoring, and compliance for drivers and heavy equipment operators.
  • Experience in collaborating with project teams for resource allocation and managing cost optimization.
  • Strong understanding of transport and safety laws, with experience in incident response and reporting.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Dammam, within the Eastern Province. The role requires active engagement with project managers, field personnel, and various internal departments to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
