About the Role

ARO Drilling is seeking a Rig Safety Coach to join their team in Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves serving as a visible Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) representative, actively promoting and reinforcing safety standards and personal accountability across the rig. The Rig Safety Coach will play a crucial role in maintaining a strong safety presence at the worksite, particularly in high-risk and high-activity areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and reinforce adherence to ARO's vision, mission, and values, promoting personal accountability for health, safety, and the environment.
• Maintain a strong presence at the worksite (approximately 75% of the working day), focusing on high-risk and high-activity areas such as the deck and drill floor.
• Plan daily activities using a risk-based methodology, utilizing the operational 72-hour lookahead.
• Promote ARO’s Golden Rules and ensure all employees understand their application.
• Encourage participation in the Stop Observe Act Report (SOAR) program by facilitating safety performance conversations. Review and discuss all critical SOAR Card findings.
• Ensure Stop Work Authority (SWA) obligation is understood and exercised promptly by all persons on board, coaching individuals on correct SWA practices where required.
• Monitor compliance with ACE and control of work systems, including Permit to Work, Toolbox Talk, Risk Assessment, and Rescue Planning.
• Conduct safety inspections and audits per ACE requirements and contribute to the continuous improvement of ACE.
• Support the completion and close-out of internal and external audits.
• Ensure effective communication of HSE policies, standards, and procedures.
• Contribute to crew safety meetings and supervisors’ meetings by presenting topics and findings from the week.
• Facilitate the discussion of lessons learned from incidents, audits, and safety observations.
• Spot-check the proper selection and fit of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain awareness of substances hazardous to health and the requirements for their correct stowage, use, handling, and associated PPE.
• Deliver engaging and effective safety training programs and facilitate rig induction and orientation.
• Ensure the implementation of the Short Service Employee (SSE) process and on-the-job training program.
• Support the investigation of safety incidents to identify root causes and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Liaise with customer representatives and regulatory bodies as necessary.
• Perform emergency duties as per the rig station bill and Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
• Analyze safety data and trends to define areas of improvement on the rig.
• Produce weekly reports for the HSE Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• Associate degree (or equivalent) with at least two years of experience in an HSE role, OR a high school diploma with at least four years of experience in an HSE role or development program.
• Previous experience within the offshore industry in an HSE role is required.

Preferred Certifications and Training

• Formal investigation training certification (*, Taproot®, Topset®, or equivalent) is preferred.
• Recognized HSE training qualification (*, NEBOSH, IOSH, ASP/CSP, or equivalent) is preferred.
• ISO 45001 certificate holder is preferred.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The role requires significant presence at the worksite, specifically on offshore drilling rigs, and involves working closely with rig crew and management to foster a strong safety culture.
