About the Role

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position. This full-time role is based in Dhahran and is open to Saudi nationals only. The university seeks candidates with expertise in Industrial Engineering and related areas, committed to excellence in teaching and research.

Candidates should possess interests and expertise in Industrial Engineering and related fields, with a focus on one of the following specializations:

• Operations Research
• Production Systems/Supply Chain Management
• Quality Control/Statistics/Data Science
• Engineering Economics
• Industrial Information Systems
• Human Factors/Ergonomics

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Professor will be responsible for a range of academic duties, including teaching, curriculum development, student supervision, and research. The medium of instruction at KFUPM is English.

• Demonstrate teaching experience in the aforementioned areas.
• Contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
• Conduct original research within their domain of expertise.
• Play a lead role in research projects, aiming for high-quality publications and research grant income.
• Fulfill the teaching requirements of the department, including developing lab activities at the undergraduate level.
• Incorporate recent advancements in their area of study into courses taught.
• Initiate and maintain research activities/projects with faculty members, leading to peer-reviewed articles in high-impact professional journals.
• Participate in departmental and university service, including program development.

Candidates should possess strong academic credentials and a commitment to both teaching and research excellence.

• Demonstrated strong research potential, evidenced by publications in reputed archival journals.
• Excellent communication skills.
