Job Description

About the Role

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a highly experienced Bioinformatics Consultant to join our team in Dhahran. This full-time role requires over 10 years of relevant experience and involves providing expert-level bioinformatics leadership for clinical molecular and genetics laboratory services. The consultant will be instrumental in the design, oversight, validation, governance, and optimization of bioinformatics pipelines and associated quality systems.

Core Purpose and Strategic Impact

This position plays a critical role in strengthening assay readiness, ensuring compliance, and preparing for inspections. The Bioinformatics Consultant will contribute to data integrity, foster multidisciplinary clinical collaboration, and support the sustainable expansion of advanced genomic testing services. The role directly supports JHAH's business and service strategy by enhancing the capabilities and quality of our molecular and genetics laboratory operations.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Advise laboratory leadership on the bioinformatics strategy for current and future molecular and genetics testing services, including oncology and inherited disease assays.
  • Establish governance standards for pipeline design, validation, documentation, audit trails, and controlled change management within a regulated clinical environment.
  • Provide expert recommendations on service expansion, digital workflow integration, data architecture, and operational readiness for advanced genomic diagnostics.
  • Support inspection readiness and regulatory alignment across CAP, CBAHI, JCI, and applicable hospital standards through proactive gap assessment and corrective action planning.
  • Serve as the senior subject matter expert for complex bioinformatics issues, cross-functional decision-making, and technical risk mitigation affecting laboratory operations.

Operational Duties

  • Design, develop, validate, implement, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for clinical molecular testing, including DNA and RNA sequencing workflows.
  • Analyze and interpret Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data for clinical reporting in oncology, constitutional, and other genetics applications within the laboratory service scope.
  • Ensure all workflows meet defined QA and QC requirements and remain compliant with regulated laboratory expectations.
  • Lead or support method validation, verification, and technical documentation for new tests, revised assays, and software updates.
  • Maintain version control, traceability, audit trails, and supporting records for software tools, workflows, and validation packages.
  • Collaborate with pathologists, molecular scientists, technologists, clinicians, and informatics/IT teams to support accurate reporting and continuity of operations.
  • Support LIS integration and secure data management practices consistent with hospital information governance and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures, investigate workflow issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize operational disruption.
  • Support accreditation surveys, internal audits, and remediation activities related to bioinformatics processes and documentation.
  • Monitor developments in clinical bioinformatics, genomics, AI-enabled tools, and regulated laboratory practice, translating relevant advances into practical laboratory improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Advanced training or certification in clinical bioinformatics, molecular diagnostics, laboratory quality, healthcare informatics, or related regulated laboratory practice.

Requirements

  • Requires +10 Years experience
