The Role of Engine Maintenance Technician
As an Engine Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical full-time role in supporting the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) Tornado fleet. This position is focused on the rectification and recovery of aircraft to serviceable status, ensuring an active flying program through the effective and efficient maintenance and production of RB199 engines. This role offers a competitive salary and is based in Dhahran.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain good engineering practices and ensure compliance with RSAF Technical Orders within the Jet Engine work area and Aircraft Maintenance Organization, including on-aircraft or component maintenance.
- Perform comprehensive component maintenance, covering inspection, surveys, evaluation, installation, repairs, troubleshooting, servicing, overhaul, modification, and on-aircraft system testing.
- Ensure all work adheres to the standards and procedures detailed within the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE).
- Implement strict tool control in accordance with established procedures.
- Manage spare parts requirements effectively using the GOLDesp logistics system.
- Provide functional guidance to Saudi National Technical Training Program (SNTTP) initiatives regarding engineering issues.
- Execute Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) and Special Inspections as directed.
- Conduct thorough inspections of engines using visual aids.
- Action work orders for unscheduled issues identified during maintenance, utilizing the GOLDesp system.
- Manage and maintain accurate daily work recording diaries.
- Provide up-to-date briefings and information to relevant parties on daily progress and any issues affecting ongoing maintenance activities.
- Offer support and input to on-site Rolls Royce personnel for raising Technical Queries (TQs), Defect Data Reports (DDRs), and maintenance activities.
- Ensure all personal authorizations remain current for maintenance activities.
- Utilize knowledge and experience in aircraft maintenance, quality assurance, logistical support, and company procedures.
- Provide Line Technical Support to the RSAF on engineering matters.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A recognized qualification at NVQ/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or an equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
- Substantial post-qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment, supported by formal recorded workplace-applied related training.
- Demonstrated quality-mindedness, maturity, and a positive, proactive approach to aircraft maintenance and support issues.
- Sound oral and written two-way communication skills, with the ability to be tactful, discreet, and confident when interacting with individuals at all levels.
- Ability to work effectively in close harmony within a mixed expatriate/Saudi National workforce.
- Proven ability to work on own initiative to resolve complex technical issues.
- Relevant type training (Q Course) and specific training as required.
- Understanding and application of human factors, error management, health and safety, and proactive hazard analysis pertinent to the role.
- Successful candidates (Saudi or Expatriate) must obtain and maintain Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level prior to commencing employment in KSA.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of company processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with EASA Part 145 regulations.
- Broad knowledge of the aerospace and defence company/industry.
- Understanding of the RSAF 4-1-7166 series and supporting technical publications applicable to the work area.
- First-line engine and/or Secondary Power System (SPS) maintenance experience.
