About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking an IDS Instructor WSO to join its team in Dhahran. BAE Systems operates as the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor, providing equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. The company is involved in the maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and trains RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in aircraft, equipment, and weapons usage. BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting national objectives, including Saudisation and the development of Saudi National capability through partner companies, reinforcing industrialisation and partnerships.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Squadron Commander, the IDS Instructor WSO will be responsible for the training of RSAF IDS pilots, Weapon System Officers (WSOs), and instructors. This includes addressing general operations issues within the squadron. Key duties encompass:

  • Conducting mission planning training covering all phases from intelligence briefing to mission execution, including tactics and employment options.
  • Providing active flying training focused on navigation skills, lookout responsibilities, offensive/defensive systems management, crew coordination, weapons management, and situational awareness.
  • Delivering training on weapons and tactics employment.
  • Assisting aircrew with time management for critical airborne tasks and platform instructor duties.
  • Performing platform instructor duties, including flight planning with normal and advanced equipment (*, FDL (Link-16) and TAMPA), understanding enemy weapon systems and countermeasures, radar operation and interpretation, navigation techniques, and instructional methodology.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess recent experience as an Integrated Weapon System Officer (IWSO) with a minimum of 250 logged hours in this role. Recent flight experience as an IWSO on IDS/GR4 within the last year is required. A total of over 1000 hours of fighter time as a combat-ready WSO is necessary. Applicants must be graduates of the RAF Academic Instructor Course or an equivalent program. Note that qualification shortfalls may be subject to customer waiver.

Additional requirements include strong man-management and people development competencies, proven management experience with engineering personnel at all levels, high interpersonal skills for coordinating activities and influencing decision-making, and experience in multi-tasking across engineering and management functions.
