About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Metrology Technician (Calibration) with a focus on electrical systems to join their team in the Eastern Province, specifically in Dhahran. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience and offers a competitive salary. The role is integral to supporting the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) through the maintenance of aircraft and training of personnel.

Role Context and Responsibilities

This position applies measurement science, mathematics, physics, and engineering principles to develop processes and methods for calibrating Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). The technician will analyze and resolve calibration challenges using advanced knowledge, and employ statistical methods and uncertainty of measurement principles to evaluate standards and processes. Responsibilities also include recommending calibration standards and TMDE, maintaining quality systems, and performing administrative and management tasks within the calibration laboratory or department.

Key Duties and Tasks

  • Analyze and solve calibration problems using advanced mathematical and engineering knowledge.
  • Utilize statistics and uncertainty of measurement to analyze measurement standards and processes.
  • Potentially develop software to support calibration laboratory and departmental processes.
  • Recommend calibration standards and TMDE.
  • Maintain calibration laboratory and quality systems.
  • Perform laboratory and departmental administration and management.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess formal training, spanning a minimum of 4 years, focused on the calibration, repair, and alignment of either Electrical or Mechanical TMDE. Knowledge of both electrical and mechanical calibration is considered advantageous. A minimum of five years of practical experience in the calibration and repair of TMDE, including RSAF-specific TMDE used for military aircraft systems, is required. Familiarity with RSAFI 4-7702, the MetCal Wing Quality Manual, RSAF Manual 105-8 (Training), RSAF Manual 67-1 (Supply), RSAF Manual 78-series (Safety), and a solid understanding of ISO 17025 are essential.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Experienced managerial and engineering judgment, creativity, initiative, and leadership skills.
  • Practical knowledge of Metrology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with high-level RSAF and BAE Systems personnel, demonstrating tact, protocol, and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency in drafting technical procedures, reports, and technician evaluations.
  • High standard of personal integrity and commitment to ethical behavior.
  • Computer literacy and experience with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Proactive in resource planning, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to establish successful working relationships with the RSAF.
