About the Role
Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a Paramedic to join our team in Dhahran. This full-time role is central to coordinating clinical and operational activities during shifts, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of optimum service and quality care. The Paramedic provides essential basic and advanced life support to ill and/or injured patients across both prehospital and inter-hospital settings, and actively participates in education and training initiatives as required.
Clinical and Emergency Response Responsibilities
- Provide basic and advanced life support to ill and/or injured patients in prehospital and inter-hospital environments.
- Respond to prehospital emergencies and disasters, acting as the medical incident commander at the scene and coordinating with other emergency responders.
- Assess safety and hazards at emergency scenes.
- Provide special rescue services when trained in those specific areas.
- Ensure readiness and preparedness for 911 emergency calls and disaster response.
- Check ambulance and equipment used for pre-hospital emergency medical care.
- Utilize specialized communication equipment to consult with physicians and/or notify hospitals of patient conditions.
- Complete detailed documentation on patient care and transport.
- Perform life support skills and treatment during Air transfer by Med-Vac.
- Follow Paramedic standing orders, protocols, advanced life support guidelines, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Operational Oversight and Quality Assurance
- Coordinate clinical and operational activities during the shift.
- Evaluate the performance of various Prehospital care committees and provide necessary support.
- Review Paramedics unit monthly work schedules and course compliance, coordinating with the office of academic affairs to open essential life support and disaster preparedness courses.
- Assume the role of operations manager for Prehospital care unit event preparation and act as the medical leader/representative during events at the site.
- Coordinate with government agencies, such as the Red Crescent, and non-government agencies to provide collaborative training, establish mutual agreements, and share new technology.
- Act as a risk and compliance officer, performing constant risk assessments for the division/unit and addressing areas of potential liability.
- Provide analysis of patient care records data to identify trends and patterns.
- Lead in monitoring and reviewing quality assurance procedures.
- Participate in evaluating and analyzing quality assurance programs for the pre-hospital division, attending quality assurance meetings, evaluating data, and making recommendations.
- Recommend, develop, and implement program and policy changes related to the pre-hospital division.
- Participate in campaigns and events as requested by the DOM chair or PHC Division Director.
Training and Professional Development Contributions
- Participate in disaster planning, drills, and exercises.
- Engage in advanced life support and disaster life support training, in addition to in-service training.
- Attend continuing medical education (CME) on an ongoing basis to maintain licensing, certification, and standards of knowledge and skills.
- Provide in-service training for staff on equipment or updated patient care guidelines.
- Act as a decontamination officer, overseeing decontamination equipment, training, and conducting drills as needed.
- Serve as a JCI member for observing deficiencies in the area and meeting standard requirements for accreditation.
- Act as a preceptor and/or participate in the orientation of new employees and students, assisting with developing and conducting new employee orientation and other training programs for employees, and maintaining training records.
- Serve as a Glucometer trainer for the unit to monitor staff glucometer competency as required.
- Participate in teaching and instructing life support courses as required.
- Complete hoist and Helicopter Underwater Escape training as required for MedVac.
- Complete the Critical Care Emergency Transfer Program as required.
- Complete Hospital Incident Command System training as needed.
Required Experience
- 0-1 years of experience in a relevant field.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Pre-Hospital Care Unit Manager and the Pre-Hospital Care Division Director.
