Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a Program Coordinator-Sr. Director (Nursing Cardiovascular) to join its team in Dhahran. This full-time leadership role is integral to supporting the JHAH Mission and Vision, focusing on the delivery and continuous improvement of patient care services.
Role Overview
The Program Coordinator-Sr. Director holds administrative and functional authority over an assigned division or department, specifically within Nursing Cardiovascular. This position assumes 24-hour responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent provides overall guidance and direction, promotes practice standards, policies, and procedures, and leads managers and support personnel to resolve operational matters within established authority limits, keeping the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) informed of unusual developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and oversee all activities of the assigned division/department.
- Participate in the ongoing review of the organization's mission, strategic plans, and policies with the CNO and other Directors/Senior Directors.
- Collaborate in developing and implementing mechanisms for multidisciplinary healthcare team collaboration to ensure continuous quality improvement of patient care services.
- Contribute to the development of Nursing and Clinical Services Business & Operating plans.
- Develop, prepare, and monitor personnel, supply, and equipment budgets in collaboration with the CNO.
- Develop and monitor departmental operational performance metrics, including Length of Stay (LOS), overtime costs, vacancy, and turnover rates.
- Participate in developing recruitment standards for nursing and clinical services personnel.
- Maintain current knowledge of and ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care, including Central Board for Accreditation of Health Care Institutions (CBAHI), Joint Commission International (JCI), and Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).
- Utilize Quality Improvement (QI) data to enhance patient care outcomes and develop corrective action plans.
- Provide staff development opportunities through in-service, continuing education, and other programs.
- Participate in planning and coordinating the department’s nursing program for catastrophic disaster response.
- Establish unit-based customer service agendas using patient satisfaction surveys and staff input.
- Develop an effective plan for care delivery within the assigned division/department in collaboration with the CNO.
- Direct, guide, and assist Nursing Shift Coordinators and Unit Managers in planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, controlling, and evaluating hospital service activities.
- Identify at least one potential successor for the Director’s role.
- Promote a high level of professionalism, academic pursuit, and continuing education for staff.
- Lead and design new initiatives and research programs within the area of expertise.
- Contribute to an organizational culture of quality and safety, advocating Evidence Based Practice.
- Develop and execute departmental objectives and business plans, contributing to division/department business strategies.
- Manage managers and/or professional/clinical employees, including conducting performance appraisals.
- Work collaboratively across departments and apply broad industry awareness to manage risk and drive financial and operational performance.
- Independently resolve complex technical and operational problems, identifying and recommending resolutions for unusual business issues.
- Assess and forecast resource needs, allocating resources and budgets to meet objectives.
- Direct and implement revenue-enhancing and/or cost-reduction measures.
Internal and External Collaboration
This role involves extensive collaboration. Internally, the Program Coordinator-Sr. Director will have daily contact with Managers, Nursing Shift Coordinators, Case Coordinators, Social Workers, Medical Customer Services Network, Pharmacists, Rehabilitation Staff, patients and family members, clinicians at all levels, and other JHAH healthcare personnel. Externally, frequent contact will be maintained with departments such as JHAH Human Resources (HR) and JHAH Government Affairs regarding employee, patient, and family concerns.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Well-developed decision-making and leadership abilities.
- Demonstrated integrity, initiative, and sound judgment.
- Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary group.
- Aptitude for developing, adapting, and modifying systems as needed.
- Sound knowledge of pertinent Company policies, procedures, and practices.
Work Environment and Leadership
This is a full-time leadership position that predominantly focuses on day-to-day operational activities, with planning generally centered on annual cycles. The role includes significant people management responsibilities, overseeing subordinate managers and professional/technical employees, conducting performance appraisals, and managing departmental budgets. The incumbent will make significant expenditures within established parameters and direct measures for revenue enhancement or cost reduction.
