Role Overview

Saudi Aramco is seeking a highly competent Vetting Captain to join its Quality Assurance and Compliance Unit. This full-time role is critical for ensuring the safe operation of vessels that support various Saudi Aramco departments, including Terminal, Producing, Drilling & Workover, and Industrial Security. The unit's teams are permanently based in Ras Tanura and West Pier, with frequent assignments requiring travel to locations such as Abu Ali Pier, Juaymah Pier, Duba, Jeddah, and Jizan. The primary responsibility involves conducting comprehensive vessel inspections and ensuring compliance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Vetting Captain will be responsible for a range of critical duties, including:

  • Conducting various vessel inspections, such as on-hire, return to service, safety inspections, and drill audits.
  • Performing comprehensive environmental health assessments.
  • Executing navigation audits, offshore assessments, and industry best practice inspections, including OVID.
  • Investigating incidents and ensuring the close-out of recommendations.
  • Maintaining and reviewing the Department’s safety management systems.
  • Maintaining and reviewing the Offshore Manual.
  • Ensuring compliance with Company instructions, recommendations, and findings.
  • Providing expert knowledge for technical reviews related to Marine Department vessel procurements.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Hold a STCW II/2 Master Mariner Unlimited License from a recognized marine academy or nautical college.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in the offshore oil and gas industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience working as a Captain.
  • A degree or diploma in nautical science is preferred.

  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Fluency in both oral and written English.

Work Schedule and Operational Locations

This role operates on a rotational work schedule of 42 days on duty followed by 21 days off. Company-paid travel and vacation are provided during the off-duty period. While the QA&CU teams are permanently based out of Ras Tanura and West Pier, the position involves frequent travel and assignments to various operational piers and cities, including Abu Ali Pier, Juaymah Pier, Duba, Jeddah, and Jizan.
